portrait artists who demonstrated
his oil technique here, Froman,
whose sketches of students last
fall and spring received outstand
ing praise, and the expensive oils
of Van Gogh and Renoir.
Having received her art degree
from Howard Payne College, Mrs
Terry came to A&M four years
ago. Her first studio here was in
Bizzell Hall. The present studio in
the MSC is too small for the rapid
ly growing art interest of both
students and local painters.
Her training has included in
struction from Jose Arpa of Spain,
Adele Brunet of New York and
Dallas, Anthony de Young of San
Antonio, Will Stevens of New Or
leans, and Xavier Gonzales of New
York.
Now, she’s planning an active
program for the year. Among
many of the exhibits which will
include exchange displays with
other colleges, she will have Gon
zales here during the spring. He
will conduct a school and also dis
play some of his paintings.
Efforts by the art gallery com
mittee and Mrs. Terry have not
passed unrewarded. They receive
their reward by the pleased looks
on students’ faces who attend and
study the exhibits.
