Jet Armada
Tokyo, Feb. 8—(A 3 )—Lt. Gen. Ot
to P. Weyland says if Allied air
strikes are halted the Reds could
mount a tremendous jet armada
from North Korean airfields with
in 30 days.
The Far East Air Forces com
mander said in an interview yes
terday the Communists have 15
good airfields which could be put
into shape without much engineer
ing effort .
All are located near supply
points such as railroads or sea
ports he added.
The Reds have insisted on the
right to rebuild airfields during
an armistice.
Weyland and his air force gen
erals opposed this — until Allied
negotiators offered to compromise
and let the Reds rebuild some air-
fileds for civilian use only.
Then Weyland and the others
shut up.
Real Threat
But the general pointed out to
day that commercial airfields could
be converted to military airbases
simply by supplying them with gas*,
oil and bombs.
Then — if the Reds broke the
truce — United Nation’s ground
forces in Korea would be faced
with a real threat from the air
for the first time.
Repeated Allied bombings have
destroyed the usefulness of such
fields as Namsi, Samchon, Taechon
and Uiju—all in northwest Korea
and all with 6,000 feet runways
suited to Communist jet operations.

Something fascinating about a street
scene!
Whether in Centreville or far off
Algiers, we like to see people ... to
wonder who they are . . . where they
are going . . . what they are thinking.
Why are people so important, so
much more important than anything
else on earth?
It is because our Christian religion
has taught us that each man is a son of
God, a human, soul with the spark of
the Divine.
In lands where our religion is de
nied, people are not important. Life is
a plentiful commodity.
Makes you think, doesn’t it? Points
you to the Church—where man comes
to understand himself by understand
ing God.
THE CHURCH FOR ALL. . .
ALL FOR THE CHURCH
; : V ■:
;
■The Church is the greatest fac
tor on earth for the building of
characier and good citizenship. It
is a storehouse of spirifual values.
Without a strong Church, neither
democracy nor civilization can
survive. There are four sound
reasons why every person should
attend services regularly and sup-
porl the Church.. They are: (1)
For his own sake. (2) For his
children's sake. (3) For the sake
of his community and nation. (4)
For the sake of the Church itself,
which needs his moral, and ma
terial support. Plan to go to
church regularly and read your
Bible daily.
