New Activity Cards Needed Admission to the Basket ball game tonight in DeWare Field House is obtainable only to students having their Spring Semester Student Ac tivity Card, along with their ID Card, was announced yesterday by Kenneth Bond, Athletic Publicity man for A&M. He also added that in case the student’s ID card was still in the process of being made, the student should secure a card from the photo lab stating so. A student failing to have with him the proper credentials, will be admitted only by the purchase of a student ticket for 50 cents. Bond also added that the South- side will be reserved for students, and that seats in this area will be on a first come-first serve basis. He commented that the doors will open at 5:30 p. m. and will be clos-' ed upon the filling of the student section. Also to be of interest to the non student followers of the ’^2 edition of Aggie Basketballers, is the ad dition of 300 bleacher seats at the west end of the court, which is hoped to help solve the overflow crowd problem. Texas Whips Bears, 58-46 To Gain Top Spot In SWC Austin, Feb. 6 —(A)— Texas’ Longhorns gained first place in the Southwest Conference last night with a 58-46 defeat of Bay lor’s hustling Bears. The Steers advanced a half-game ahead of idle TCU. Husky Jim Dowies paced the Longhorn attack, hitting nine field goals and four free tosses for 22 points. After jumping into the lead with one minute gone in the first quar ter, the Longhorns built up their margin until they led by 13 points midway of the second period. Texas CRIMSON TIDE RULED THE COURT Tuscaloosa, Ala.—(2P)—The Uni versity of Alabama was once the scourage of the basketball court. That was when they had their long est winning streak in Crimson Tide cage history. It was a 22- game span covering the entire 1930 season (when they had a 20-0 record) plus the first two con tests of 1931. The consecutive win mark was halted by Butler Uni versity in Indianapolis. The score was 23-20. led 30-19 at the half. The Bears hit seven of their first eleven shots to pull within five points, seven minutes deep in the third quarter. Substitute Bill Harris hit three field goals in four minutes. The Longhorns pulled away once again early in the second half with Ted Price and George Scal ing leading the way. By JIM ASHLOCK Battalion Staff Writer Flashing an impressive confer ence record of nine wins and one loss after its 46-22 victory over Cameron Monday night, the district leading A&M Consolidated high school basketball team is prepar ing to battle here with Milano Fri day night. The game is the first of the Tigers’ two remaining district games this season, the second sche duled for Tuesday night with Sharp. The Tigers need only one more win to boost them into the regional tournament to be held in Hunts ville from Feb. 29 to March 1. This tournament will bring togeth er all the class B district champs from a wide area surrounding Huntsville. x Only One Defeat Only team to mqr Consolidated’s otherwise perfect district record this season was Snook, who down ed the Tigers in their first meet ing 40-35. But in the r’etum match Consolidated roared back to hum ble the Snook quintet 36-18 and take the district lead. Consolidated Coach O. V. Chafin says that if his cagers defeat Mi lano Friday night they receive the district title despite the outcome of their game with Shaip.
