“Serving Texas Aggies”
CMS Tigers Heavily Favored
By GUS BECKER
Battalion Sports Tigers
The front running A&M Con
solidated Tigers meet the up-set
minded Sommerville eleven Fri
day night on Tiger Field in College
Station.
Boasting the two leading scorers
in the district in Jerry “Lightnin’ ”
Leighton and William Arnold, the
Tigers should turn the game into
| a track meet.
With the advantage of being on
their own home field, Consolidat
ed should have little trouble in
winning, the only problem being
in trying to hold down the score.
The Maroon and White team has
played one more district game
than has Someiwille. The Somer
ville squad has won only one dis
trict contest while dropping two.
An upset is highly improbable
since the Somerville team has al
lowed their district opponents 71
points while scoring only 27.
The A&M Consolidated eleven,
which was not considered too much
of a threat at the start of the
season have seemingly played over
their heads to get to the top of the
district standings.
It would have to be a very great
let down and a, Somerville team
that was 1 really “high” to turn the
tilt into anything that resembles
a football contest.
McMinn of Somerville will be
the only threat that the Tigers
will have to stop. The Somerville
back has scored 20 points this sea
son in district play.
The high powered Consolidated
backfield should shine Friday
night. Leighton and Arnold are
threats everytime they have the
ball. If Somerville can stop these
two Speedsters they will have ac
complished something no other
team has been able to do this sea
son.
