This new volume brings up to date the val uable features of its predecessors, and constitutes a treasure chest of helpful information and guidance. Officers of all grades and length of service, on active or inactive duty, recognize the value of having THE OFFICER’S GUIDE available for ready refer ence and wise counsel. Half a million officers have used this book in its many editions. THE OFFI CER’S GUIDE is not, as supposed by many individ uals, a guide designed solely for junior officers. True, most junior officers do acquire copies early in their career as there is no substitute for this reliable and ever ready source of helpful information. However, many experienced officers of senior grade with many years of service find THE OFFICER’S GUIDE a highly useful and time saving reference. The officer’s family will also benefit by reading this comprehensive volume. Selected sections such as Army Posts and Stations, Foreign Service and Life in Oversea Commands, Customs of the Service, The Code of the Army, and Leadership help to orient your family on the military way of life. To a surprising degree the career of an officer is influenced by his wife. She can contribute most to his success if she is fully informed as to the Army’s codes, requirements, customs, and opportunities. This new edition is in tune with the situation of today and tomorrow. Considerable revision has been accomplished to incorporate important changes in regulations. Don’t get left out, come in today and get your copy today, we have only a limited stock. The Exchange Store “Serving Texas Aggies” ’Mural News By PAT LeBLANC Battalion Sports Writer Through the keen efforts of Sonny Hollaway, the Agronomy Society players defeated the Ag riculture Engineers in a playoff game of the Intramural Softball League, 4-3. Sonny Hollaway not only pitched steady ball for the Agr. squad but he belted a game-tying homer in the third canto. He fanned four adversaries and only walked four. Eddie Rodriques, of Ag Eng, also pitched a creditable ball game. He had been riding on what ap peared to be a comfortable two-run margin, until he became wild in the third. Ag Soc gathered their winning marker in the fourth when Ray Kunze was forced in. An infield error and two free tickets to first to Ray Falke a,nd Leo Mikeska by Rodriques sent Kunze circling the bases. Ag Eng collected two runs in the first inning through the efforts of Morris Davis and Dick Harris and then pushed across one more in the top of the fourth as Hollaway showed some symptoms of wildness momentarily but regained his con trol as he whiffed two batters. In the third period, Agr. Soc tied the score at 2-2 when Leo Mike ska, Shelby Newman and Keith Hargrove drew walks and the Ag Eng team made several errors. Kream & Kow Milks ASCE The softballers of Kream & Kow had an easy time of it milk ing their ASCE opponents, 10-4. ASCE had to send three hurlers in an effort to terminate the wave of runners who crossed the plate in the big third inning for the Milkmen. These three moundsmen were Spec Davenport, A1 Rollins and Sherman Hink. Every man on the Kream & Kow squad made at least one run. Monday’s Volleyball Six ’Mural volleyball games were reeled off Monday. In the best match of the day as exemplified by the roars from the crowd, B QMC outlasted B Eng in two out of three games. B QMC won the first, 15-6, lost the second 8-15 and then took the final one handily 15-4. ASA grabbed two quick ones from B FA by 15-1 and 15-9. C Inf blanked D FA in the initial tilt and then went on to take the sec ond, 15-13. B Inf beat A AF 15-8 twice and B Armor took the measure of A Armor, 15-10 and 15-3. This all round track man is only a sophomore this year and would probably be hailed as the best prospect of the year were he not overshadowed by another sopho more, the undefeated weight star, Darrow Hooper. MAIN “Your Clothing Store” BRYAN five events in the keenly compe titive SWC. A&M’s Best At present, he is the conference’s second best, and A&M’s best broad jumper with about 23’ 6”. He also runs on the SWC’s best 440 re lay, and is the cadet’s second best low hurdler with a chance at sec ond or third in the conference. Were he not so busy he could probably pick up points in the 220 and 440 and perhaps make the mile relay. He went to the Sugar Bowl track meet as alternate on the mile relay and will be a cinch to make it next year. There is no telling what Rags dale will be competing in by his senior year, but you can bet he’ll be winning two or more events in most meets before he is through. His best day this year was in the LSH dual meet where he won the broad jump and low hurdles to tie with Hooper for high point honors. Billy Bless The boy ^gsffale has been chas ing all year in the low hurdles is junior Billy Bless from San Anton io. Bless was runner-up last year in the SWC low hurdles for the Aggies and should be the South’s top man this year. Though he is determined to beat Ralph Person of Texas, he has been edged out by the Steer in most meets this year. Bless is National Interscholastic record holder in the 220 yd. low hurdles with a time of 21.8. He has whipped off a 22.4 in this event in practice sessions, and is poten tially the greatest low hurdler in the nation. The conference record is 22.8 held by Bob Hall of A&M. 440 Relay Among his other accomplish ments Bless runs second on the five-Aggie 440 relay, handing off to Ragsdale in the third spot. If Bless can ever get everything go ing smooth, he’ll beat Person and set a few new low hurdle records for A&M. Charlie Meeks and Bobby Ragsdale ’ -fHHwy mi 'WMPfm . . . will fight it out in the tri-meet Friday for first in the broad jump. The University of Texas lad’s best this year has been 23’ ll'/s” while Ragsdale’s finest was close to 23’ 6”. Arizona Nine Has 19-1 This Season The Arizona Wildcats, the base ball team who will meet the SWC winner, has won 19 games and lost but one so far this year. This is the same team, with the exception of a graduated hurler, who many thought Texas was lucky to beat last year. WHAT'S IN A PICTURE?
