Meanwhile, the official says, the main current of smoke may have been swept eastward to Europe, thus accounting for a “blue” sun observed in Northern England, Scotland and Denmark. Dr. Harry Wexier, chief of the weather bureau’s scientific ser vices division, discounted other theories advanced to explain the peculiar sun observed by the Brit ans and Danes. Those theories are that peculiar formations of high clouds, haze It a t la lion CLASSIFIED ADS Page 6 THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1950 sell with a battalion, classtri ed AD. Ratew . . Jewell Jr. Berlin, Sept. 28—OP)—East Ger many’s Communist government has offered bonuses for more babies, to build up the Soviet zone’s wan ing population. The bonus system—similar to the scheme used by Hitler—was in cluded in a new law giving women equal political and economic rights with men, offering protection to mothers and children and tight ening restrictions on abortions. Communist Prime Minister Otto Grotewohl, speaking, for the law, demanded more babies as “proof of the optimistic spirit prevailing in the east German democratic re public.” The east zone has a popu lation of about 18 million com pared with 45 million in the west zones. The law give a bonus of 100 east marks ($25 at the official rate but only $5 at the actual rate against the west German mark) for each third baby in a family, 250 east mark’s for each fourth, and for each baby over that 500 east marks. We are indeed grateful for the business that has been given us during these ten years. The retail grocery business is a tough racket. Dur ing the past ten years, twelve food stores have come and gone, for one reason or another, right here in College Station. That we have been able to survive and enjoy a mea sure of success, indicates that our constant efforts to give our friends, institutions, and customers bigger and bigger values in quality foods have not gone completely unnoticed. Yet, we feel that our prices still are much “cheaper than you think.’’ To put across to our customers and potential cus tomers the “honest truth” about our prices is the sole reason we are giving away absolutely free next Tuesday, Oct. 3rd at 3 o’clock P.M. a $269.95 Youngstown Kitchens Automatic Dishwasher. You do not have to buy any thing or to be present to win. We just want you to spend up to 20 minutes of your time studying and recording our grocery prices on a pre pared list available at the store. We know after you have done this that you will be much more aware of just how cheap we are offering you high quality foods. If after 20 minutes you have not completed the list, we will give you “A for effort” and declare you eli gible to win the Dishwasher. • NOTHING TO MEMORIZE! ® NOTHING TO BUY! • NOTHING TO LOSE! • MARKET VALUES • Grade A Baby Beef T-BONE STEAKS lb. 88c Square Cut SHOULDER ROAST .... lb. 63c CHICKEN LEGS. 3 for 25c Decker’s Korn Kist BACON . lb. 55c EXTRA SPECIAL: ARMOUR’S AA CHOICE HEAVY BEEF Heart 0’ Texas FRYERS lb. 65c Fully Dressed HENS lb. 47c « ARMOUR’S STAR SALE Star LINK SAUSAGE • . lb. 63c Star SLICED BACON . lb. 69c Armour’s Star FRANKS . lb. 59c Armour’s Star—Shank End HAMS . lb. 65c BUTT END LB. 69c • FROZEN FOODS • Pictsweet—6 Oz.
