Unburdened of confusing flash
backs and windy harangues by psy
chologists who would seem more at
home at a seance, “In A Lonely
Place” keeps a tempo vivace
throughout. Writing is terse and
crisp and clever, and the camera
is never arty or obtrusive—it’s just
around to show you what’s going
on as simply as possible.

“Where to Buy It”
201 N. Main Bryan
As to the venerable Humphrey,
his interpretation of Dixon Steele
is his best screen job in two years.
He at last seems to realize that
he’s no glamour-boy like Mont
gomery Clift, but that his success
lies solely in his peculiar brutal
appeal.

The Round-Up, A&M Consolidat
ed High School’s newspaper, is
being published for the twelfth
consecutive year this .semester.
This is the first year since Anne
Boddie was editor in 1945 that the
paper has been a printed publica
tion.
During the five years between
1945 and 1950 the paper was either
mimeographed or published with
the aid of a ditto machine.
Consolidated’s paper; with its
circulation of 400, has subscribers
in places as distant as Tennessee
and Massachusetts.
| ' Their paper is completely self-
sustaining. Revenue to meet operat
ing expenses is acquired through
the sale of advertising and sub
scriptions.
Staff Meets Tuesday
The staff meets every Tuesday
to turn in their copy for that week
and to receive their assignments
for the following week’s issue.
Deadline for advertisements and
pictures for Friday’s paper is
Monday.
As the school does not have a
journalism class, the paper is pro
duced by students who are inter
ested in journalism and who are
willing to sacrifice some of their
spare time. An English teacher,
Mrs. J. T. Duncan, is the sponsor
for the paper and helps in the
editing.
Editors are chosen for one year
in an election by the student body.
Interested students run for the
staff positions of news editor, soc
iety editor, sports editor, and lay
out editor. The students who are
elected, meet with the other pros
pective staff members and these
prospective members elect the edi
tor-in-chief from the four editors
chosen by the student body.
The editors for the coming year
are editor-in-chief, Dorothy Bates;
news editor, Helen Boatner; society
editor, Martha Jane Arnold; sports
editor, Frank Vaden III; and ex
change editor, Barbara Sims.
One of the papers most widely
read regular features is their
weekly selection of the student of
the week. In this feature a brief
biographical sketch and history of
the students school activities are
given.
The paper carries news and soc
ial items of interest to the Con
solidated students.
Lunar Editor Gives Answer
To Rather ‘Cloudy’ Question
According to the Bryan papers, the moon’s eclipse last Monday
night was not visible there, but the Battalion’s Lmar Editor an
nounced visibility from atop Austin Hall was completely clear Mon
day night.
When pressed for an answer to this meterologicnl question, he
said, “due to the rising spirits coming out of the old building, most
of the clouds were swept away. A slight overcast was detected in
the titrator-spectrascope, but the College Station Chamber of Com
merce assured me there are never any clouds over College Station.”
