April 17, the students at the Annex
marched in reasonably orderly fash-
iog to the author‘ft barracks where veter-
a«* and rorpsmen sang him the War
Hymn He ai>peared before the group
and feebly attempted to sing the War
Hymn back to them
During this demonstration, signs of
disorder developed and the tactical officer
qn duty ordered the bend to return to the
cadet area Nearly ail of the freshmen
followed the band, but several students
grabbed the author and. in the ensuring
scuffle, he was rolled in a near-by muddy
ditch
Wet and cold, the freshman veteran
who wrote the letter was brought to the
college hospital whore he apoat the night.
