Notre Dame, the No. 1 team by the widest of margins,
dominates the 1949 team with three men. They are the Irish
co-captains, End Leon Hart and Tackle Jim Martin, and their
rugged bull-necked fullback, Emil Sitko.

playing only in the secondi half of
the fray, the Alamo City athlete
playoffs where they lost to a
powerful Odessa eleven. Chapin
lettened three years in high school
and in ’47 won a numeral on the
