independent college water supply
system “is not a money making
scheme. Our only purpose is to
provide adequate water for the
college.”
Another stumbling block in the
way of any cooperative water dis
trict involving- the college and
Bryan was outlined by Spence.
One of the main reasons for past
difficulties between the city of
Bryan and the college Spence
pointed out, has been the lack of
capital interest by the college in
the Bryan water supply system.

gestion, made it possible for stu
dents from Louisiana, Arkansas,
and New Mexico to ..enter the
school 1 of veterinary medicine.
Library Survey
An appropriation for $3,000 dol
lars was giyen by the board for the
purpose of conducting a survey of
the functions, policies and organi
zation of the college library.
Remodelling and improvements
appropriations for the School of
Veterinary Medicine' were approv
ed by the board. « -
A fund of $15,000 dollars was
set up froir unappropriated income
to make svailable funds for the
employment of consulting engi
neers. The | engineers are occasion
ally called in to make report^ on
major construction for the college.
Other items approved by the
board were the sale of an oil and
gas lease In Newton County; |ac-
ceptance ojf a $21,111 bid for the
sale: of college owned land in Naco
gdoches; and authorization of the
sale of land in Bexar County.
PL Acceptance of gifts to the col
lege of $52,192 dollars was made
by the boftrd. The sum included
gifts and grants in support of re
search, scholarships, and fellow
ships.
Cash-totalling $40,606.12 was ac
cepted for scholarships and fel
lowships, the majority of which
were under the college’s Oppor
tunity Award program.
A report on the activities of the
Texas Engineering Experiment
Station was given by Dean H. W.
Barlow of the School of Engi
neering.
Dean M. T. Harrington gave a
report on the work of the School
of Arts and ,Sciences.
