The occasion will be the college’s 60th anniversary as a state school. In these 60 years it has grown from a small privately operated school to one of Texas’ biggest colleges. ! > Ex-students and others are ex pected to jam the campus for the occasion. , Established through community effort as a privately owned normal college in 1890, the school was first named the Texas Normal Col lege.
