House Considers Plan to Split
AUSTIN, March 29 A plan toi split up the University
of Texas available fund among 14 colleges was sent to a
House subcommittee early Monday night, when hearing was
completed by the second committee of this session which has
heard it.
Vote was 5 to 4, with Chairman
R. B. Spacek of the school dis
tricts committee casting the de
ciding vote. Named to a subcom
mittee to further study the pro
posed constitutional amendment
were Representatives Ridgeway,
Hardee and Shell.
Representative James J. Norton
Jr., a university student, who had
persuaded the nouse to recall the
resolution from the constitutional
amendments committee and send

he is “pretty sure” to leave the
university and transfer to Baylor
