Simmons Reports
Work Going Fine
Work on the Memorial Student
Center is going along fine, accord
ing to K .R. Simmons, superinten
dent of construction. Materials
have been coming in on schedule,
the weather has not delayed it too
much, and the pouring has been
done without complication.
In the next three or four months
the structural frame will be pour
ed. Everyone will be able to see
what the building will look like by
the time they leave for the sum
mer, Simmons said.
Simmons is very optimistic about
the job. He hopes to complete the
building in several months short
of contract time. McKee Construc
tion Co. was allowed two years to
finish construction.
“I appreciate the interest and
cooperation of all the boys around
here,” Simmons stated. “There
have been several who have fol
lowed this job from the start,
checking on our progress every
day. I also would like to thank the
boys for one thing in particular—
we didn’t lose one stick of wood
when the Thanksgiving bonfire

HORSE MEAT CASES
HOUSTON, March 10 -(^Pi-
Grand jurors of Harris County will
consider Friday the evidence in 26
cases of horse meat sales for hu
man consumption here.
Dist. Atty. W. C., Winborn re
ceived the evidence file of city
atty. Will Sears Tuesday. They
agreed the district attorney should
handle prosecutions. The state law
provides a heavier penalty than
the city ordinance for convictions
of horse meat sales for human
consumption.

the challenge, Weynand concluded.
Mayes informed the committee
that the prospects for a free dance
on Open House Day were some
what unfavorable. The committee
asked Mayes to look into the pos
sibilities of having an exhibition
square dance at the Grove after
the presentation of the follies.
Concert Scheduled
For Wichita Falls
By Singing Cadets
The Texas A&M Singing Cadets
will appear in concert Saturday
evening, March 12, at Wichita
Falls, under the sponsorship of
the A&M Former Students Club of
Wichita Falls, according to Harold
Eades, reporter-historian for the
Cadets.
The Cadets, under the director
ship of Bill Turner, will have a
varied program of songs ranging
from Bortniansky’s “Glory to God”
and “Cherubim Song” to the pop
ular ballad, “You’ll Never Walk
Alone.”
Other popular numbers included
on the program are Ringwald’s ar
rangement of “The Night is
Young” and “If I Loved You”
written by Rodgers and Hammer-
stein. To complete the concert the
Cadets will sing the spirituals
“Deep River” and “Joshua Fit the
Battle of Jerico,” and the stirring
“Battle Hymn of the Republic” ar
ranged by Ray Ringwald for male
voices, Eades said.

all of Palestine, parts of Trans
jordan, Iraq, Syria, and Egypt.”
Arabs Have Arguments
The Arabs have some good ar
guments too, he pointed out. The
Arabs feel that there is no clear
er way to establish ownership of
a country than by living in it.
“The Arabs have claimed this land
since nearly 1500 years ago when
they conquered it,” he said.
He said that a large number of
the important people in this area
had been assassinated since his
pending book on these countries
had been sent to the printers. _ “I
have seriously considered putting
a note in the front of the book ex
plaining that the names of the im
portant individuals in my book
could very well be the names of
assassinated people by the time
my readers can read it.”
