So You Know A & M ?
Work Begun un
Consolidated’s
New Building
Foundation work on the
new A&M Consolidated senior
high school building got un
der way last week. A contract
for the construction was sig
ned with General Contracter
C. L. Andrews of Bryan in a
school board meeting early
last week.
The contract is for the erection
of a senior high school building
and a negro school building at a
total cost of around $94,000, Supt.
A. M. Whitis said. About $75,000
of the total will go for the high
school building, and approximate
ly $20,000 for the negro school.
The buildings should be complet
ed in six months, in time for the
opening of school in September.
Foundations for the senior high
school building were lined out last
Tuesday.
When completed, the buildings
will be equipped with new furni
ture. Cost of the furniture is not
included in the construction esti
mates.
R. G'. Schneider of Houston is
architect for the two buildings.
The high school building will
be brick veneer finish, with an
interior finish of wood panel
wainscot, and sheet rock. Floors
will be oak, except for the rest
rooms, which will have tile floor
ing.
The negro school will be a frame
building with asbestos siding.
Sheet rock, wood panel, and wains
cot will be used in the interior.
The contract was the major con
cern of the school board at its
meeting, but plans were made for
election of school board members
on April 2.

Although it might seem far
from the world of correlations and

hobby of nature study. He enjoys
hiking and likes to get away from
standard deviations to enjoy the
great outdoors. He also reads many
literary works in keeping with his
bachelor’s degree in English. He
likes the writings of contemporary
American authors.
Dr. Hamilton has beeiv asso

all over the United States and in
some foreign countries, and ex
presses the belief that many A
&M students rank with the best
anywhere in scholastic ability.
The school spirit, he says, has
no equal. His biggest ambition
for the school is to see the in
corporation of the honor system
with the students taking the ini
tiative in making it work.
