Batt Offers Chance to Make
Five Bucks in Name Contest
yu
You say you need some ready cash? You claim you can’t
make ends meet? Tell you what we’re gonna do! Friends,
we’re going to give away, absolutely free, five one-dollar
bills; Yes sir, five leaves of that good old American cabbage.
How can you get it? Easy, Friend, easy. Here's all you
have to do: just fill out the blank below with a name (no
profanity, please) for the classroom area behind the Petro
leum Building. And if your entry is chosen as the best one
submitted, you? will win the grand prize of $5.
That’s all there is to it There are no box tops to /send in,
no coupons to save, and no 25-word essays to write. Just
draw from yoUr own deucedly clever imagination and send in
the results; _ I! ; j j L. L ■ h
But you had better hurry. The entries must be mailed to
or brought by The Battalion office on or before Saturday
noon. Mailed entries should be addressed to “Contest Editor,
The Battalion, Campus.” No entries will be returned and the
decision of the judges will be final.
So if you heed the dough, make with the pencil and paper
and help give ‘‘Hog Hollow” an official name.

individual staff members in self
evaluation and improvement.
The committee bn personnel eval
uation proposed that each instruc
tor submit in annual report? cover
ing his curricular and extracurri
cular activities, including’advanced
study in his profession and student
j and community activities.
Another proposal' submitted
suggested that the head‘of efery
department mal(e an evaluation
report on each staff member cov
ering the efficiency of his work
and the relationship of the ih-
1 structor with his students and
j fellow workers.
A third recommendation was a
• student report reflecting the atti-
! tude of the students on the teach-
i ing efficiency of the individual in
structors. This student rating of
i professors was placed in effect last
semester, results of which > were
compiled and distributed for infor

The student report was adopted
by all schools in the college. The
other recommendations were adop

But those who now twist their
dials to-that station are upset to
find tljiis vital program has been
substituted by ;.some city slicker
telling of the Ups and downs of
the stock mark|t.
The distraught farmers, thinking
the Extension Service at Texas A
&M ; has been bribed to desert them
by Wall Street,; have written tons
of enraged letters demanding to
know what’s going on.
Oil has beep poured on their
troubled waters, however, by Andy
Adam and Sybil Claire Bannister
of the Extension Service. Adam
and Miss Bannister have long conj
ducted! the early'moming program.
They announced that in order to
obtaip one minute of extra time irt
which to give th<e farmers the latent
information on { crop development;
there has been a switching of sta
tions. Radio ethics forbid announ-
xement of change of stations,
To hear the; Farm and Home
Hour now, devotees of the agrar
ian cause iri Texas need but to flick
their dials to WFAA of Dallas Rp-
cated at 570. This change has been
made by the Texas Quality Net
work over whose channels the pro*-
TT
gram, which originates in the stu
dios of bur own WTAW, is carried.
: ' y ' J . ]
The announcement also carried
good news for the farmers of
South Texas who until now have
only ! WO AI of San Antonio,
KPRC in Houston, and KRIS at
Corpus Christi on which to find
the Fjarm and Home Hour. To
this list is now added station
KVAljiof Brownsville. j
This addition will cause the pro
gram tp be heard by dur heighbors
beyond the Rio Grande. Once the
farmers south of the border hear
the F^rm and Home Hour, the
prograin is expected to be to Latin-
American relations what the Mar
shall Plan is to European Rela
tions. •
