‘Editor for Today’ Says
Kindergarten Staff
Could Do Better Job
■ : 1 j : f I i i ,
Only a few persons have taken advantage of $ie opportunity
to express their ideas on editing The Battalion, Among the letters re
ceived is the one from W. T. Hays, foreman of the A&M Print Shop,
who sent in the following letfcerl ' j;
Dear Ed: }. A
You wanta know how to run a newspaper according to a news
item on the front page of the Daily Batt of March 9. Frdnkly you need
some help. I have often wondered what kind of blackmail you use to
keep tHe circulation up. 1 f i* 1 ;
Anyhoo here is “How I Would Run The Battalion If I were
Editor”: . A ' • ( 1
1. Fire the entire staff from the top of the steps on the second
floor of Goodwin Hall southwest to the back of the teletype machine
which was, the last time I visited the Batt office, backed against the
wall. \ i ! J V A
2. Immediately take a trip to. Bryan to Mrs. Orr's kindergarten
and recruit some reporters with a high mentality to improve the
type of stories carried in the Batt.
That, my dear editor, is how I think the Batt should be rum
! [: Gripingly yours,
WI T. HAYS—
P. S. After I had the above letter written I am getting scared
that I will not win the prize, because l have been informed by a usually
reliable source that your staff ! s'I. Q. would be almost if not equal to a
group of kindergarten students; and that ^ny suggestions are the way
thp Batt is run every day; I ai i very disappointed because I thought
my suggestions would be some|hing new to you and your staff.
Disappointedly yours,
W. T. H.
The contest for this week will end at midnight Sunday, March
14. Letters concerning “What jj Would- Do If I Were Editor of The
Battalion For A Day” should be mailed to Editor for a Day Contest,
Battalion, Campus. j i
Prizes for the best suggistions submitted will be $5, $3, and $2
in cash.
