Service Is Not
MS Substitute
Merchant Marine . service is
not acceptable as a substitute
for two years of basic military
training required to graduate
from A&M, Registrar H. L;
Heaton announced today.
All merchant marine veterans
who are delaying their applica
tions for the military exemption
until graduation should clarify
their status at once, Heaton ad
vised. By checking their status*
nOw, persons , will avoid any
chance of having to spend extra
time taking military science af
ter completing scholastic hour
requirements, he said.
The only exemption requests
recognized by the Registrar’s
Office are for physical defects,
age, or entrance into the school
vv\ith advanced scholastic stand
ing. In these cases, Heaton ex
plained, students must be pass
ed by an examining hoard.
