Freshmen, Sharpen Your Pencils For
Annual Engineering Drawing Contest
The annual engineering drawing contest, discontinued
during the war is being reopened, J. G. McGuire of the En
gineering Drawing Department announced Thursday. Open
to freshmen enrolled in Engineering Drawing 111, 112, and
124, the contest will be held toward-^-
the end of the current semester,'
probably the latter part of May.
Four divisions are open to the
contestants: freehand sketching,
freehand lettering, mechanical
drawing, and descriptive geometry.
Three prizes will be awarded in
each part. Furnished by the Eu
gene Dietzgen Company, the priz
es are to be pieces of drawing
equipment.
The exact date will be announc
ed at a later date, but will fall
on a Saturday afternoon, it was
pointed out. Time limit on the
contest, as in previous years, is
set at 4 hours. The only re
quirement other than that the stu
dent be taking engineering draw
ing is he must have maintained at
least a “B” grade in the course.
In past years a National Draw
ing Contest was held at which
more A. & M. men won prizes
than students from any other
school. This year there is no na
tional contest, but the local con
test has been reinstated.

The lab machine, Buchanan says,
is one of a very few in the nation
with comparable flexibility and
range. One of its features is con

be set on the half-pound through
