Darts For Dough Is WTA W Hit
“Dart for Dough”, the unique
quiz show which requires skill at
hurling a dart as well as mental
alertness in answering quiz ques
tions, is now heard Sundays, over
WTAW.
The program, on the network for
the past 20 months, has a popular
ity largely due to gracious Poni
Adams, Conover cover beauty, who
is “dart girl” and handsome Ken
Niles, “dart master.” With Poni
assisting him, Ken selects ten par
ticipants from the studio audience
and puts them through their paces.
Those who answer the questions
correctly are given three darts to
throw at the dart board and receive
cash prizes. Those who miss the
questions also are permitted to
throw darts, provided they first

perform some “silly situation.”
This may be any good-natured
horseplay devised by Niles but
whatever the wacky stunt is, it’s
always good for a laugh from the
audience. Recently, one contestant
had to ride a small tricycle around
the studio for ten minutes, throw
ing a dart each time he passed the
dart board. Another had to knock
over a specified target with a
squirt from a seltzer bottle.
The contestants are awarded
prize money ranging from six to
forty-eight dollars, depending on
the accuracy of their throws. The
final grand throw, in which each
contestant throws a dart simultan
eously, pays $100 to the one who
scores nearest the bull’s eye, while
the second-best scorer receives a
wrist watch especially constructed
for this program.

Having obtained verbal approval

Texas A&M College is going ahead
with plans to institute a modified

nounced by Dr. Howard W. Barlow,

Dr. Barlow expects to complete
a formal contract with the V. A.
this week, authorizing the college
to conduct private pilot and flight
instructor courses at Easterwood

Trainees will come under two
separate classifications if they are
entitled to G. I. Bill benefits. They
may take either full-time flight

college, may take training concur

Full-time courses will last nine
