I. E. Students Visit
Texas Industries
A group of ten students from
the Department of Industrial Edu
cation visited several of the major
industries in the wealthy East Tex
as industrial oil area and in Dal
las on May 17 and 18th.
The Industrial Plants visited
were the following:
Tyler Iron and Foundry Works
and the Richardson Plastic’s Cor
poration, both at Tyler.
The Kroehler Furniture Com
pany, The Texlite Incorporaiton,
and The Universal Metals Corpo
ration, all of Dallas.
While inspecting industries, the
students also visited industrial
school shops at Kilgore, Longview,

Official Notices
The Cannery, operated by the Horticul
ture Department will be open for the
processing of fruits and vegetables on June
8, 1946.
A new processing line has been arranged
to speed up production and a large pack
of canned goods is expected.
As in former years, the individuals are
to bring their fruit or vegetables to the
Agriculture Engineering Building between
the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily except
Saturday and Sunday. NO FRUIT OR
VEGETABLE SHALL BE ACCEPTED
FOR PROCESSING AFTER 9 A. M.
It is imperative that all fruits or vege
tables brought to the cannery be pregraded
by the grower. This applies particularly to
tomatoes, as any tomato which has any
green color showing will not be accept
able for canning whole or in juice.
There will be no individual lots of pro
duce canned. All fruits or vegetables shall
go into one common process and the indiv
idual shall receive a prorata share. It is
therefore imperative that pre-selection be
done. The Cannery shall not accept less
than bushel lots of any commodity.
In the processing of green beans, the
grower shall snip and string the beans as
facilities for this process are not available.

wherein sugar is to be used, the indiv
idual shall be required to furnish any sugar
necessary to that process.
The price for the processing will be
ten cents per can. This price includes
three cents for each can furnished by the
Department of Horticulture and seven
cents for the necessary labor and use
o fthe machines.

moving to sign a clearance of your Memo
randum Receipt.

of the partment to which they are moving
to sign a new Memorandum Receipt.

the summer must bring this Memorandum
Receipt by Room 100 Goodwin Hall before

CATION—There will be several Industrial
Arts Teachers from the Public High Schools
on the A. and M. Campus, during both
six weeks terms and some for the entire
twelve weeks period, studying for a Mas
ters Degree.
These people would like to rent furn
ished apartments or homes if there are
faculty members who expect to be gone
either of the summer terms or the entire
period.
If there should be someone interest
ed in renting his home or apartment for
this short period of time to dependalbe

R. E. Callender, of the Agricul
tural Extension Service, was prin
cipal speaker at the Dedication
Ceremony of the Dogwood Trail
property to the City of Palestine
Sunday.
There would be a lot guilty pleas
in court, if we had all-women
juries. Mere man can’t fool one
women, much less twelve.
