can get 115 feet flat footed he
should get at least 130 feet by
putting a little effort in it, and
that distance should give him first
place in any meet here in the
Southwest.
While Zapalac was getting in a
few practice throws on his own,
Col. Frank Anderson, the Aggie
track mentor, who was assisting
with a high school track meet on
Kyle Field happened to see one of
the heaves. You would have thought
someone had shot the good Colonel
from a cannon as he charged over
to where Zapalac was standing.
Right then and there business pick
ed up as Col. Anderson went to
work with his new find. He com
pletely forgot his high school
track meet, and eventually one of
the high school coaches had to
come over and remind him that
there were some more events to be
run off.
Colonel Anderson left reluctant
ly, but not until he had Willie
Zapalac’s word that he would throw
the discuss for the Aggie, come
next Saturday.
Starting time for all the events
to take place this weekend are as
follows: Conference Swim Meet
Saturday night at 8 o’clock, base
ball games Friday and Saturday
at 3 o’clock. The track meet gets
under way at 2 o’clock Saturday
