Pre-Med Club Elects
Jack Marsh President
The Pre-Med Club of Texas A.
& M. met last Wednesday night in
Science Hall to elect the following
officers: Jack Marsh, president;
Elmer Reed, vice-president; Jim
Barnett, secretary-treasurer; and
Fish Henk, reporter.
The club saw two pictures on
tuberculosis, both of them dealing
with methods of catching t.b., cor
rect diagosis, and proper treat
ment.
Jim Gabbard, a junior in the un
iversity of Texas Medical School,
made a short talk on the way
things were at medical school. A
question and answer session fol
lowed his talk.
The next meeting will be March
12, 1964.
KIWANIS CLUB SPONSORS
VETERANS’ GARDEN PLOTS
Through the courtesy of the Ki-
wanis club, several garden plots
have been made available to vet
erans free of charge. These plots
are located near the north gate and
near the project house area and
equipment will be furnished. Those
interested should contact Taylor
Wilkins at Room 28, Milner Hall
or phone 4-6034.

The A. & M. College Fish &
Game club is sponsering the movie,
“Stage Door Canteen”, at Guion
Hall Wednesday, March 6, the
proceeds of which will be used to
send a delegate to the eleventh
national wild life convention in
New York.

Agronomy Society
Hears McDowell
C. H. McDowell, acting director
of the Agricultural Experiment
Station, was guest speaker at the
February 27 meeting of the Texas
A. & M. Agronomy Society.
Main topics of discussion were
the organization and functions of
the U. S. Department of Agricul
ture as seen by McDowell on a
recent trip to Washington, D.C.
McDowell emphasized the value of
balanced farming and the import
ance of production of feed crops
and livestock on idle cotton land.
Committees for the Cotton Ball
to be held on April 12 were an
nounced during the meeting. The
following men were named to visit
T.S.C.W. at Denton for the pur
pose of choosing the Cotton Queen
and the eight members of the court:
Karl Wallace, Forrest Caraway,
Joe Brannen, John Cox, LeRoy Hen
dricks, Martin Vick, Leland Main,
and Howard Anderson.
Named as a committee on initia
tion were: Francis Dutton, Bryan
Crouch, LeRoy Hendricks, and John
Cox. The initiation of new members
of the Society will be held on
March 13, it was announced.

MRS. LANGSTON WINS AT
VET WIVES BRIDGE CLUB
The socal group of the Veteran’s
Wives club held their weekly
bridge tournament Thursday night
at 7:15 at Sbisa hall.
Mrs. J. M. Langston won the
prize for high score which was a
package of groceries, and Mrs. Do
ris Vollket won consolation prize,
which was a box of individual
match folders. Both prizes were
donated by Luke’s Grocery.
An exceptionally large crowd
was present and refreshments were
prepared and served by the foods
