A. & M. Leads Up Until Last Minutes
Of Saturday Thriller at Houston
The Texas Aggie cagers dropped another heartbreak
ing loss in the final fifteen seconds of Saturday night's
game with the Rice Owls, with a final score of 64 to 59.
A. & M. took an early lead and
led 17 to 7 at the end of the first
quarter. Rice worked hard in the
second period, drawing within four
points of Karow’s boys but dropped
back to 32-26 at the half.
The Aggies opened strong in
the second half, piling up a lead
of 40-28 after three minutes of
play, but the Owls spurted and
dropped in four quick baskets to
pull up to 40-36. With seven min
utes to play, the Houston cagers
finally tied up the ball, game at
51-51, and then went ahead as Tom
and Herbert scored from the floor.
A. & M. tied it up again at 57-57
and then at 59-59 with one minute
and 15 seconds left to play.
Ast the clock drew around to the
30-second mark, Owl Tom scored
again and was followed by a crip
basket by Walter, who added anoth
er point on a foul on the shot.
Big Jamie Dawson took high
scoring honors with 32 points and
was closely followed by hustling
Bill Yeoman who hit the meshes
for 17. Herbert and Walter led
the Owl attack with 18 points each.
Just because it costs more to get
a divorce than it does to get mar
ried, doesn’t mean that it is worth
more.
