PAGE 4 THE BATTALION THURSDAY AFTERNOON, MARCH 29, 1945 —DISTRACTIONS— (Continued From Page 2) gans Creek, with Eddie Braken, Betty Hutton, and Ralph Morgan. The setting is a small town near a big army camp. Hutton works in a record shop in town and is pret ty popular with the boys. A bunch of the boys are shipping out so they throw a “Kiss the Boys Goodbye” party and invite her, but her daddy won’t let her go, so she calls up the local 4-F (the Aggies hero) who is Eddie Braken, and asks him for a date that night. She ditches him in a double feature and takes his car and goes to the party. At the party she gets into trouble and Braken gets blamed for it. He is willing to take the blame cause he loves her, and some situa tions develop that aren’t very de sirable. In the end the stork does time and a half overtime, and they hit the jackpot. It all ends up very happy. This show is really one of the top hits of the year; it will make you laugh, cry, sob, and sigh. LOWDOWN. A topnotcher!!! At the CAMPUS Thursday and Friday is “For Whom the Bell Tolls” with Gary Cooper, Ingrid Bergman, Akim Tamiroff, and Arturo De Coedova. This is the story of an American, Gary Coop er, who is in Spain when the civil war breaks out, and he joins with the people in a desperate fight against the Nazi tryanny that was overrunning their beloved country. This show is rated as perhaps THE best show of the year, and has received the Boxoffice Medal of Merit for its excellent acting. If you haven’t already seen it, don’t let it get past this time. LOWDOWN: It can’t be beat. Showing Saturday is a double feature. The first feature is “Week end Pass” with Martha O’Driscoll, and Noah Beery, Jr. This is a musical that is really on the ball. It portrays what the boys do af ter weeks of marching when they get 2 days of freedom. LOWDOWN: On the light and airy side!! The second feature is “National Barn Dance” with Jean Heather, Charles Quigley, and Robert Bench- ley. This show is just what the title implies. It is a collection of backwoods boys filled with rustic rhythm. LOWDOWN: I refuse to commit myself. At the CAMPUS Sunday and Monday is Kismet with Mar lene Dietrich, Ronald Colman, and Turhan Bey. This is a spectacular presentation in Technicolor of a well known Fairy Tale. The color is beautiful, the huge settings are breathtaking, and the plot is interesting enough to keep your mind completely occupied. It has been rated as one of the best years of the current season. LOWDOWN: Plenty good!! AGGIES--- SUNDAY, APRIL 1, IS EASTER SUNDAY This is one day you should go to CHURCH. Your church is holding services for YOU and your invitation is special.
