SYLVESTER BOONE, Managing Editor 1942 Member 1943 Associated Colle6iate Press —TOWN HALL— (Continued From Page 1) dances through fire with her troupe of gypsy dancers. This is the year’s program, and with talent such as listed, this Town Hall sea son will go down in history as be ing the best ever put on the stage of Guion Hall. Bidu Sayao will be the first fea ture of Town Hall when she pre sents her beautiful and lovely voice for all to hear on October 19. Bidu comes to Aggieland as a famous member of the Metropolitan, but she won fame abroad and then made her entrance to this country. A lovely soprano, Bidu will have a program that any music lover would like to hear. Carmen Amayo on November 18 has something in the style of fla menco dancing that will thrill every person sitting in the audi ence of Town Hall. Her gypsy movements and those of her troupe will have every bit of their gypsy rhythm mixed with the music of the gypsy. An entertainer in Bu enos Aires before Toscanini dis covered her, Carmen has won fame in the United States and she will come to the campus with the same thought in mind, that of giving her audience what they want to see and hear. A. & M.’s own Singing Cadets will be the featured program oh December 14 when they present some of the songs that are so well received by every audience at every appearance over the state. The Cadets have been acclaimed one of the best male singing groups in the United States, and previous samples of their music have prov en this to the Corps and to the service men on the campus. Popu lar, classical, semi-classical, and the traditional songs of Aggieland will be featured on the program. Richard Crooks will bring his fine tenor voice to the campus on January 20 for the enjoyment of the Town Hall audience. Crooks is a national figure in the minds of music lovers, and even those who don’t care for music as a rule will enjoy his songs. A mystic and psychic, Joseph Dunninger has baffled the nation’s greatest psychologists. This per former has presented his show of the “super-human” accomplish ments of the human mind to six presidents, and his presentation on the Town Hall stage will be of the same unusualness. The Philadelphia Opera will bring its organization to the stage of Guion Hall on February 21 with a program that will contain good dramatics, beautiful voices, mod ern settings, and contemporary and understandable English to the clas sics. A company of eighty-six young people including a small symphony orchestra will be on hand to show the Aggies and serv ice men some of the old dramatics. Zino Francescatti who appears on Town Hall on March 7 is one of the finest violinists in the world and the famed “Hart” Stradivarius violin as his instrument will testi fy to his ability as a musician. His program will truly be worth at tending. The seventh appearance of the Houston Symphony Orchestra will be made on April 4 when the Town Hall season comes to a close. The Symphony with Ernst Hoffman as conductor has always made a hit with the Corps, and this year will be no exception.
