Civilian defense training groups here mostly unier the direction of Lt. Colonel H. R. Brayton and
a detachment of enlisted men in the Chemical Warfare Service have turned out several groups of
business men and leaders of civilian defense all over the south, using the facilities of A. & M. and
working on the campus. Courses are about 10 days long, and include an intensive drilling program in
methods of meeting emergencies in case of bombing raids. The courses are intensely practical giv
ing actual experiences to the men taking the cohrse in as far as possible.' Some of the training was
directed toward the control incendiary bombs of several types which are known to be used by enemy
forces. Business men from all sections have returned to their homes prepared to take the lead in
training others for emergencies.
