Here at A. & M. it has been one of the most popular intramural sports. Speedball is a combination of soccer, football, and basketball. Such a game sounds a little im possible but actually the rules are few and simple. It is a game that can be enjoyed the first time it is played and yet offers generous possibilities of individual improve ment and fine team play. Basically speaking, speedball is the game of soccer with a rule thrown in that allows the ball to be caught in the hands any time that the ball is caused to go into the air by striking or being struck by a player. In other words, any time that the last thing the ball touched was a player’s body, it may be legally caught in the hands and then passed, punted, or drop- kicked. The game of speedball is kin TO AGGIES HERE AHD EVERYWHERE We hope this Christmas brings you fulfillment of every wish, and that it finds you happily surround ed by the things and people you love! As in basketball, no blocking, tackling, or running with the ball is permitted. AGGIES 56-NTSTC 42 In the second game of the season last night, the Aggies showed speed and power as they trounced the North Texas State Teachers College by a score of 56 to 42. The first half of the game was closely con tested, with the Aggies lead ing at the mid-point with a 23 to 21 score. TCU, Rice, SMU Also Represented Moser, Ruby, Sibley, Sterling Are Ag Appointees By Mike Haikin As the regular football season rolls around to a dead stop for another year, there comes a time when honor is bestowed upon boys who have glorified themselves in the gridiron world. Picking out eleven star members is a hard job, because there are quite a few more boys that have dpne deserving jobs, and would have been on the All- Southwest team if they had play ed with a better ball club. Also injuries handicapped many of the stars such as Kyle Gillespie of T. C. U., Joe Pasqua of S. M. U., Bob Brumley, of Rice, Chick Forte of Arkansas, and Dick Dwelle of Rice. However, eleven men have to be picked, and that’s what we will do now. The champion Texas Aggies and the powerful runnerups, the Texas Longhorns each place four men, while T. C. U., S. M. U., and Rice manage for one apiece. Ags’ Derace Moser Leading the quartet of backs on the All-Conference team is the Aggies’ own Derace Moser, the most consistent and the best pass er in the conference. One certain ly cannot leave Moser out of any “all” team because it was he who passed, ran, and kicked Coach Homer Norton’s team into the championship. He sparked a team, that was picked to finish no less than fifth in the conference, to a glorified season, and he certainly cannot be left out. Next are the Longhorns’ “ham and eggs,” Jack Crain and Pete Layden. Crain is one of the best break-away runners in the nation, and once this “Nocona Nugget” breaks loose there is no stopping him. He ended his career in a glorified fashion against the Texas Aggies and the Oregon Webfoots. He wound up as the leading scor er in the conference, and was con sidered one of the best placekick- ers here. Pete Layden was the Longhorn workhorse and shined at all moments he was in a game. Even when Longhorn hopes were smashed in their tie with Baylor and loss with T. C. U., still the shining star of the Longhorns was Pete Layden. Last but certainly not least is the fullback post, which is satis factorily manned by Presto John ston, S. M. U.’s great ramming star.
