Caldwell Bryan, Texas —POLO TEAM— (Continued from Page 3) tossed in the first hall to begin the game. This new field was made possible mainly through the energy, direction and efforts of the team manager, Clyde Raley, and other members of the team. Individual stars for the Aggies were Walt Hart at No. ^ and No. 4 and Norris McGowen at the one spot, each scoring three markers for the Aggies. Hart played one of the best games of his career in spite of an injury that threatened to keep him out of play. Showing very aggressive playing on the of fensive he sparked the Aggie vic tory for the first two chukkers at the No. 2 spot and the last four chukkers at the number four spot, McGowen played a fine game at one on both the offense and de fense to push through the passes of his teammates. Three lettermen rot ordinarily in the starting line up played fine ball to keep the team on top for the opening game. Lee Rice went the whole game at the No. 3 spot, T. A. Williams went three chukkers at the No. 4 and No. 1 spots, and Jack Buie did an excellent job at the No. 2 spot for four chukkers. Each of these men pushed through one goal a- piece. Wynn Humbertson of Houston played a beautiful game for Shreve port at the No. 3 spot to score three of their five goals. A once famous player from Houston Humbertson has played little polo in the last two years but was easily the out standing hitter on the field. Her- shal Schivilly at the No. 1 spot for Shreveport scored one goal and Butler from Austin scored one at the No. 2 spot. Sam Brown of Shreveport finished out the Shreve port lineup. Dr. E. V. Young, sparkplug of the team, was unable to come at the last minute. Period 1 2 3 4 5 6 Total Aggies 2 0 0 1 2 4 9 Shreveport: 200111 5 Referee: Major E. A. Elwood, F. A. To those whose souls are thus be set with unalloyed bliss E’en heaven would seem a dull er place than any such as this. No feat—the Aggies win with brain and brawn and muscle team: They have the spirit, skill, and power, grit and speed and steam; They pass and kick and buck and run, they know the game by heart. And never give an inch of ground, but conquer from the start. There’s something in this Aggieland that vaccinates the youth With loyalty and strong support, if one would speak the truth; No school on earth like A. and M.— the students live it, love it; No shrine or idol in their hearts that they would place above it. The State is proud of such a school —it’s friends are strong and legion; Constructive service it bestows in every nook and region; A mighty force is A. and M. res pected, known abroad; 'Tis well that we should often pause its merits to applaud.
