of a three-game Saturday South
west Conference attraction. Many
questions will be answered this aft
ernoon, such as the supremacy of
Texas over the rest of the field,
and whether the Aggies are really
as strong as has been indicated in
their last four encounters.
The limb cracked a bit last week
on the Rice-L. S. U. game, but
we’re still going strong. So even
if we miss ’em all, we’ll still take
a try at predicting ’em. Okey, roll
out the barrel.
A. & M.-BAYLOR ... The Ag
gies have bowled over four oppon
ents without too much trouble.
Baylor has one good team that may
give the Aggies many gray hairs,
but the wearing down process sys
tem of Coach Homer Norton is
bound to hit the Bears. So, with
out even stuttering, its the Aggies
by a 21-6 score.
Sports experts have all gone
“over” for Dub Sibley, Aggie cen
ter, but here’s a letter that Dub
received a couple of days ago that
really hits the spot . . . the fol
lowing is an excerpt from Sibley’s
fan mail:

pull an upset here, we’re packing
up and leaving. Seriously, though,
we can’t see where Rice can win.
However, don’t give the game to
Texas because they’re going to get
a really hard battle, believe it or
not. With spinning Bob Brumley
carrying the brunt of the offense
for the feathered flock, a high
scoring game is in prospect. We’ll
take Texas because of stronger re
serve power with a score of 27-13.
T. C. U.-FORDHAM . . . With
out Kyle Gillespie in there for the
Frogs, it looks like a runaway
for the Rams. Score should be
about 20-0, if T. C. U. is lucky.

an eyelash, Notre Dame over Illi

Field Tomorrow

Riders; Large Crowd Due
The Aggie Polo Team will dedi
cate the new A. & M. Polo Field
tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
when they meet the Shreveport civ
ilian team. The Aggies played the
Louisianians three times last year,
winning two of the games. The new
field was built by the team last
summer with the help of the Mili
tary and Landscape Arts Depart
ments of the college.
Captain Carl Maloney of Goliad
will lead the Aggie horsemen at
No. 2 position where he has star
red for the past two years. At No.
1 position will be Norris McG'owen
of Shreveport, who lettered at that
position last year. Lee Rice, sen
ior letterman from San Antonio,
will probably start at No. 3 pos
ition, replacing Bill Braid, one of
the outstanding collegiate players
in the country, who is out of the
lineup due to an operation.
Walt Hart will probably start
at No. 4 position but is not like
ly to see much service as he is
suffering from an injury received
last summer. T. A. Williams of San
Antonio will do most of the work
at that spot. Other men who will
see service will be Clyde Raley,
Jack Buie, Lee Wood, and Arthur
Rider. Major E. A. Elwood, U. S.
Field Artillery, will officiate at
tomorrow’s game.
The new field is located near
Highway No. 6 on the Sulphur
Springs road across from the Vet
erinary pasture. Signs will be plac
ed to direct the public to the field.
No admission will be charged for
this game and a large crowd is
expected to be on hand to witness
the event. Season tickets may be
obtained from Major Stevens at the
military department. A reserved
parking space is included with the
ticket.

Williamson System Ratings, the
Texas Aggies should defeat the
Baylor Bears in a clash which pro
vides to be one of the more thrill
ing of the week’s games.
The feature attraction in the
Southwest Conference pits the un
defeated Longhorns of Texas U.
against the Owls of Rice Institute.
The Owls are due to bounce back
after their stunning upset by L.S.
U. and this one may be close. How
ever, the System will stay on the
side of Dana Bible’s great club.
Top game of today remains the
grudge battle between Michigan
and Minnesota for possession of
the traditional “Little Brown Jug”.
The System says Michigan by a
whisker, with a possible chance for
a tie.
Stanford meets Washington in
another of the headliners for this

night, Mr. Penny gave a weiner
roast that was enjoyed by all. Af
ter the fine food, the intramural
staff and managers held an open
discussio non the many important
points that crop up in the playing
of the games.
Concerning the awarding of cred
it to fellows that come down to
play games, it
was decided to
award credit only
to the boys who
are properly
dressed for game
participation. It’s
not fair to the de
partment and the
fellows that you
are playing again-

ing in street clothes. If you want
credit for a game, come prepared
to play.
The floor in DeWare Field house
is almost completed and as soon
as it is completed, class A bas
ketball will be played. Fellows, this
is a new floor, the finest money
can buy, and finished perfectly. The
least we can do is keep it that way.
And we can do it if we only think.
Pay attention to the signs that
surround the court and the court
will stay in perfect condition. In
other words, “stay off the floor
with street shoes on.” Even rub
ber soled shoes that have grit and
dirt from the street will mar the
finish. So let’s lean over backwards
to keep the floor in tip-top shape.
Quite a few teams have finish
ed their alloted games and won
their league. League winners will
be announced in Monday’s Bat
talion along the league standings.

The “Little Aggies” of Brazos
County football, and A. & M. Con
solidated High School Tigers, con
tinue to keep pace with their big
brothers. The local high school
eleven has won five straight
games, and then they were not at
top strength. Included in the list
of Tiger victims are two class
A teams—Schulenburg and Sealy.
This week they continue to take
on stiff competition as they meet
the La Porte High School in a
game played there.
Next week the Tigers are ex
pected to be at full strength when
they open the race in the South
Zone of District 26-B against the
Bedias Panthers, who will come to
College Station for their annual
battle.

Game Today Should Bring Out
All-SW Conference Nominees
Ever hear of a thing such as
personal duels on the football field ?
Well, if you haven’t you’re really
going to see some this afternoon
when the Texas Aggies battle with
the Baylor Bears.
Both teams are studded with can
didates, who are battling hard to
make that honor team, the All-
Southwest Conference eleven, which
is picked at the end of the season,
and nothing would please the star
members of each team more than
to show up their nearest competi
tors.
Sibley vs. Gatewood
For example, at the present
stage, Dub Sibley of the Agggies,
and Buddy Gatewood of the Bears,
have shown that they are two of
the best centers in the league to
day. That is the conclusion reach
ed by most experts regarding the
past four games played. Sibley,
who was at first thought to be a
weak link of the cadet forward
wall, has come through in fine
style, and has every sports expert,
radio announcer, and coach looking-
up. Gatewood, meanwhile, has
made more than one person lift
his eyebrows, with his great play.
He has been one of the main cogs
of the Bruin defensive setup and
is due to have a busy afternoon
against the Aggies today.
End Duels
Another great and unrestrained
duel will be between the ends. Jack
Russell, undoubtedly, is one of the
greatest ends to patrol this South
west Conference in a long time. His
230 lb. frame is no hindrance to
his speed and pass-snagging while
his defensive play has been one of
the bright spots in Coach Frank
Kimbrough’s setup. However, he is
due to get plenty of competition
from the Aggie ends, all-confer
ence Jim Sterling and Bill
Henderson. Sterling is the kind of
an end any coach would want—
fast, big, great on defense and of
fense, great pass snagger, and any
thing else you would like to name.
Henderson’s value comes from his
pass catching. He is considered
one of the greatest pass receivers
that has hit this conference in a
long time.
Wilson and Moser
Last, but not least by any means,
is the duel between Jack Wilson
of the Bruins and Derace Moser of
the Aggies for triple-threat hon
ors of the day. Both are consider
ed to be the key of their respective
offensives and are due to carry
most of the brunt today. Wilson
IS the Baylor offense, carrying
the ball just about 75 per cent of
the time, and doing everything ex
pected of a triple-threater. Moser
showed his worth in the T. C. U.
game last week and is relied upon
to be the main undoing of the
Bears today.
So what else would anyone want
in a football game. Mix those duel
ers up and what do you have?
Just another one swell football
game, full of thrills and what have
you.
