It seems that one organization
out of the many on the campus
thought that they could gain credit
and possibly win a game by using
ineligible men, and taking a still
further long shot, decided to play
them under assumed names.
It is not the policy of the intra
mural department to look for such
discrepancies, but
neither is it their
policy to overlook
them. To play an
ineligible man is
bad enough, but
to play him under
an assumed name
in an attempt to
win over an op
posing team is a
Oxford plain attempt to
defraud the opposing team and win
by “fair means or foul.”
Not only does the organization
that committed this breach of eth
ics have a forfeit marked up again
st them, but none of the players re
ceive credit for a participation.
We hate to think that there are
men on this campus who are so
very small as to pull a stunt like
this, even though we do have our
customary^'two per-cent.” It seems
that “two per-center” has grown to
a lowly “four.”
This is the first time such an
unethical move has been attempted
and we hope it is the last. It was
called to our attention by an un
interested party and both the names
of the men and the organziation
are known. We will withhold the
offenders names this time, but in
the future, let the guilty beware.
Such a move places a stigma on

Rice-Texas Tilt
Takes Spotlight
In S W Conference
Half way through with the 1941
schedule, Southwest Conference
teams are beginning to take def
inite form. Twenty-three games
have been played; there are 26 yet
to go.
There’s a lot to be done yet,
however, about the strictly family
fight in the conference itself.
Southwest teams have done pretty
well for themselves in intersec
tional play, but when two member
teams meet each other they can’t
both win.
Only four conference tilts have
been played, with 17 yet to go.
Two of these come up next Satur
day, and the spotlight is easily
taken by the Texas-Rice affair at
Austin.
The Owls shut out the Long
horns last year in Houston, 13 to 0.
Since Rice won from the highly
touted Tulane Greenies, there are
those who contend the Owls are
good enough to stop Texas. At any
rate, it will be the game of the
week in these parts, and the win
ner will have gained the inside
rail on the track that leads to the
championship wire at the end of
the season’s race.
The Texas Aggies and the Bay
lor Bears clash at College Station
in the second conference contest
of the day. The Bears held last
year’s high-flying Aggies better
than any team except Texas, who
won from them. This year’s Bay
lor eleven appears to be consider
ably stouter than the 1940 team,
but the Aggies will be playing at
home. Pull a name out of the hat
on this one.
T. C. U. makes a Broadway ap
pearance against Fordham in New
York City Saturday afternoon. The
Rams have what it takes (as they
usually have) and the Frogs are
given only one chance—that of
keeping the score from piling up
too big against them.
The fourth contest of the week
is a game under the lights in De
troit, where Arkansas plays the
University of Detroit Titans. The
game will be the sixth night con
test for Southwest teams this sea
son. The Razorbacks are not con
ceded much chance against Coach
Gus Dorais’ boys.

Coach Kimbrough Uses Same
Double Wing Formation as Ags
Frank Kimbrough, head coach
of the Baylor Bears, is in his four
teenth year of coaching since his
graduation from Hardin Simmons
university in 1926. Kimbrough was
a stellar athlete in college, let
tering four times each in football
and baseball, three times in
basketball, and earning a letter
in track.
Coach Kimbrough, a long-time
admirer of Homer Norton, is an
ardent advocate of the double wing-
back formation with emphasis on
the forward pass. He has attend
ed coaching school at A. & M. and
has obtained a number of inside
glimpses of the Aggie defensive
and offensive strategy. Some of
his plays have been styled after
those of the Aggies and, as Baylor’s
coach, he has taught much of this
to his squad. When Baylor meets
A. & M, there will be a demon
stration of two similar fashions of
football science in competition.
After leaving Hardin Simmons in
1926, he entered medical school
at Galveston for a year. In 1927,
he became coach at Wayland Jun
ior College of Plainview, staying
there until 1932. Outstanding in
Kimbrough’s stay at Wayland was
that school’s 6 to 0 victory over the
Texas Tech eleven in 1930.
Kimbrough coached the Amarillo
Junior College Badgers in 1933 and
1934; winning the Texas junior
college title both years. The Har
din Simmons squad was held to
a 13-13 tie by the junior college
team in 1934.
He returned to his alma mater

On many of the defense projects encountered by the Bell
System, the work sheets-showing telephone fae.ht.es
needed and time allowed-would make a good, eonservattve
engineer’s hair stand on end.
For example, take the Navy’s huge new air base near
Corpus Christi, Texas, which covers 14,500 acres, includes 29
separate flying fields and 481 buildings. Closely connected
with the base are Defense Housing projects for 1700 families.
Imagine the complex problems involved in planning tele
phone -facilities for this new "city” where formerly there
were sand dunes—in obtaining and installing miles and miles
of wire and cable, switchboards, telephones by the thousand.
But telephone engineers and construction men took hold
—proceeded to shatter records—completed their huge task
in seemingly impossible time. For men with the "will to
do,” there’s a real thrill in such Bell System work!
