ON KYLE FIELD -With Hub Johnson- Longhorns to be Out Before May 20 The 1941 Longhorns will be ready for distribution between May 15 and 20, Editor Morton Robinson announced today. By Mike Haikin Roy Peden and Charlie Steven son have been designated by Coach Marty Karow to face the T. C. U. Horned Frogs today and tomorrow as the Texas Aggie diamondeers packed up their belongings and headed for the invasion of North Texas. Following their series with the Christians, they swing around to Dallas to face the S. M. U. Mus tangs in a one-game stand. Baseball teams are made or broken in the North, and it is our hunch that Marty’s gang will come out unscratched just as they did in, their last three game series. Meanwhile the Texas Longhorns will face the Baylor Bears on their home field, and should not have For 3. The cadets defeated the feathered flock earlier in the season in a duel meet, but lost out to the Owls last week in the “Little Conference” meet. Golf, tennis, and track have their final go round this weekend in Austin in annual conference meets. The Aggie linksmen participate in the meet today and Friday, while the cadet thinly clads and netters have their heyday tomorrow and Saturday afternoon. »>-*<- “MOTHER'S DAY IS SUNDAY" SOMETHING TO REMEMBER She won’t forget how thoughtful F. was of you to bring her here to dine. Clothiers COLLEGE and BRYAN Aggie Nine Meets Frogs In Cow Town Peden to Take Mound In Opening of Games Roy Peden, who throttled the S.M.U. Mustangs in a masterful performance here last week, will be Coach Marty Karow’s choice to face the T.C.U. Frogs this aft ernoon in Fort Worth in the open ing of a two game series. The cadets, who are in the midst of a three game winning streak, will send a lineup against T.C.U. that has collected 24 runs and 28 hits in the last three games, among which was a 14 to 6 Frog setback. When hitting was lack ing, pitching came through in fine style to offset the slump. The Toads are resting comfort ably in the cellar with one win to their credit. However, in sum marizing their feats this season, every team that has faced the Frogs has had to fight hard for a victory. Even the league-lead ing Longhorns had to come from behind to thump the ever-hust ling T.C.U. team. A. J. Brumbaugh, who has ac counted for the lone Frog vic tory, will probably be T.C.U.’s choice to face the cadets in the first game, with Adams or Van- dervolk working in the second. Adams’ three inning relief stunt against the Aggies last week should gain the big righthander a starting berth. Following the T.C.U. series, the Karowmen journey on to Dallas where they take on the revenge seeking S.M.U. Mustangs in a sin gle game. The Aggies showered the Mustangs with heavy hitting and excellent pitching in their last time out, and will attempt to duplicate their feat Saturday. Lefty Bumpers, who has accounted for three of the cadets six wins, will face either Brooks Atchison, loser of the first game here, or Atwell Tessman, whose pitching prowess, may well gain him an other crack at the cadets . Golf Team Plays In Austin Tourney Coach Frank Anderson and his Aggie golf team left the campus yesterday afternoon to participate in the annual conference meet which is to be held in Austin today. Five other schools are entered, with Texas and T. C. U. ranking as pre-meet favorites. This meet is expected to be the closest one in many years. The cadets have won four matches, lost one and tied one. One of their best exhibitions was against Texas when they deadlocked the erst while Steers, 3 to 3, in an early season match. Leading the cadet offense this year at the meet will be the No. 1 and 2 men of the team, Henry Hauser and Henry Richards. Haus er, who is the captain of the links men, has been one of the leading golfers in the conference for the past two years, and is expected to put a serious bid for top individ ual honors. His record this year should place him among the top of the selected golfers. He placed second in the Fort Worth Exposi tion. /O .-O {^ampin 15^ to 5 P. Intramurals Sunshine Brightens Baseball Prospects By Mike Haikin With warm weather in prospect for the coming weeks, softball is in for heavy duty. Adverse weath er has been alloted the dia mondeers the past two weeks, but with Old Sol looking down upon us, the banging of balls and the baseball byword “Play Ball” should be heard excessively the next few days. FORFEIT DOGHOUSE B Infantry C Field Artillery D Field Artillery C Infantry E Infantry E Coast Artillery Infantry Band F Coast C Engineers 4th Corps Hdq. These forfeits not only hurt the teams, but it gets the intramural department out of tune, too. At this late a forfeit may mean the difference between a high place in the standings and a low one. So let’s get together and keep away from this doghouse. Intramural activity was about nil the past two days mainly due to the number of forfeits. Volley ball held the spotlight for the day, as F Engineers turned back the on-rushing B Field Artillery, 2 to 0, to gain the semi-finals in the playoff. The engineers led all the way, and were never seriously threatened. In a feature swimming meet, F Field Artillery completely out- swam the C Coast Artillery tank ers in a 35 to 10 score. In other matches, H Coast Artillery won over D Infantry by a score of 27 to 20; G Coast blasted B Signal Corps into submission by a score of 30 to 14; and E Field Artillery outscored I Infantry, 26 to 18. ry % A Date For Juniors!
