Last Home Cage Game Tonight With Texas U

Memories of Last Year’s One Point Win On
Cage Court Tonite; Aggie Teams To Waco
Up and down and down again-
the Texas Longhorns come here
tonight to send their ever charging
cagers onto the hardwood floors
of DeWare Field House against
McQuillan’s determined Aggies.
This is the first game between
these two schools and as of last
year the cadets start the game
as the under dogs. But then it is
'"recalled how in the last seconds of
play Stevenson came through to
eek out a one point win for the
Aggies with the score 53 to 52.
Texas must win this game from
the cadets as well as a following
contest from the Owls Saturday
night to claim the second place
slot in the league standing.

Both Cage Teams
It’s the Aggies and the Long
horns again, but this time in a
definitely different atmosphere
from that fateful day at Memorial
Stadium last Thanksgiving.
The cadets and the Steers clash
tonight in a feature basketball at-
tration at the DeWare Field House
that should see both teams in their
peak condition. It will be the last
home game for the Aggie quin
tet, which has only accounted for
three games this year, two of them
over the cellar-dwelling T.C.U.
Frogs; and one over the Baylor
Bears.
Many followers of the cage game
will remember the thrilling spec
tacle put on by the Aggies and
the Longhorns last year. With
only five seconds to go, rotund
Charlie Stevenson, Aggie guard,
came out of nowhere to sink that
fateful field goal which cut the
Steers’ horns off, 52 to 51.
All tickets for the game have
been sold out.

Speedball Is
Rained Out
By Mike Haikin
With inclement weather taking
its toll on the intramural program,
speedball games have been contin
ually postponed. Volleyball and
horseshoe pitching, however, still
grace the spotlight in Class A in
tramurals, with a number of games
being played in the last few days.
McKennie, Guill, and Esposite
and Gehring outpitched their op
ponents from I Infantry to give G
Coast a 2 to 1 victory in a feature
horseshoe game. In other games, C
Infantry took the odd game of
their series with B Field Artillery
to come out on the long end of a
2 to 1 score; Hdq. Cavalry blanked
A Infantry, 3 to 0, with everyone
doing a credible job of horseshoe
pitching; and D Engineers squeez
ed by C CWS, 2 to 1, with Reagon,
Shirley, and Burrus, Skalnick star
ring for the winners. Huffmeyer
and Wilson came through in fine
style for the losers.

In a feature game on the vol
leyball courts, B Signal Corps pro
duced an “iron-man” team to com
pletely out-play A Field Artillery
and come off with a 2 to 0 victory.
In the other games, M Infantry
found 1st Hdq. Field Artillery a
hard “nut” to crack, but finally
shaded them in a 2 to 1 tilt; and
both I Field Artillery and G Coast
coasted along to a close 2 to 0 vic
tory at the expense of B Engineers
and A Signal Corps respectively.
