All taxpayers of the city of College

year 1940 beginning April 15th at the

DEADLINE FOR GRADUATE THESES
The Graduate Bulletin carries the date
for the graduating exercises as June 7
and fixes t^e deadline for completed thes

John L. Dodson is in charge of the Mechanical Engineering show
where student designed and constructed models will be displayed in the
Mechanical Engineering Building. Exhibits for this department are:
1. Machine Shop, Wood Shop, Pattern Shop, and Foundry.
a. All equipment in operation.
b. Display of projects designed and constructed by students.
c. Pouring of iron in the foundry at 7:15 p. m.; eruption of
a volcano as a finale.
2. Mechanical and Steam Laboratory.
a. Aeronautics display.
b. Fuel testing machines for determining octane rating.
c. Ford V-8, Chevrolet, and Plymouth engines.
d. Worthington Diesel engine and dynamo-meter.
e. Refrigeration units.
f. Turbo-generator unit.
g. Corliss engine.
h. Novel hot air engine.
i. Various types of steam, oil, and gas engines.
j. Display of odd mechanical movements.
3. Metallography exhibit including demonstration of microscopes
and cameras for studying the microstructure of metals.
4. Military Engineering exhibit (Room 101 M. E. Shops).
a. Scale models of trestle and pontoon bridges.
b. Working models of rigging.
c. Sandbox showing construction of camouflauge.
d. Military mapping display.
e. Demolitions equipment display.

The main feature of the Petroleum Department’s display will be
an oil well pumped by electricity. Eber Peters will be in charge of the
petroleum show which will display:
1. Experiments.
a. Pumping oil wells with electricity.
b. Determination of surface tension.
c. Core analysis.
d. Air-gas lift.
2. Equipment display.
a. Halliburton cement consistometer.
b. Complete analysis.
c. Sub-surface pump equipment.
d. Well surveying instruments.
e. Gas-lift equipment.
3. Field display.
a. Portable drilling rig.
h. Cable tool rig.
c. Gas-lift operation on well,
d. Surface equipment on other wells: motor driven pumping
units, pumping jacks driven from central power unit.
4. Motion pictures of actual operations in drilling for oil—1:30
p. m. and 3:30 p. m. in the Petroleum Engineering Lecture room.

There is a correction in the time of
services for Mothers’ Day. Mass will be

COSMOPOLITAN CLUB
The Cosmopolitan Club picnic will start
at four o’clock this afternoon in the Y.
M. C. A. Cashion Cabin. Club members
who do not know the location of the
cabin will meet on the “Y” steps at
3:30. Club members’ dates and parents

The picnic scheduled for Monday after
noon, May 13, has been postponed. It
will be held Monday afternoon, May 21,
at Rensel Park.
AGRONOMY SOCIETY
There will be a very important meet
ing of the Agronomy Society in room
312 of the Agricultural Building Tues
day night at 7:00. Plans for the annual
picnic will be discussed. There will also
be an election of the officers for next
year. It is very important that every
member be present. Please be on time,
so that the meeting can be brought to
an end as soon as possible.
