Balloting To

Being Considered
BY BOB NISBKT
Several plans regarding the fata
of the Entertainment Series in
future years are under considora
tion by D. W. Williams and T. F.
Mayo. Though no action on the
has been taken. H is
problem and something of
headache to those in charge. One
thing is certain, however, there
will t><- sn Entertainment Series
next year in some form or fashion.
But it wiQ require the support of
more than 600 students out of the
student body as was the extent of
ticket sales this year.
One plan of aetibn involves the
publishing of d list of proposed
features on next year’s program
in ballot form to be voted on by
the student body. The theory is,
that if the students select their
programs, perhaps they will de
velop more interest There are
severs! aspects to this plan.
•rant, would the students get a
variety of entertainment by this
method? After aU, the primary
: ;rpose of the Series is to provide
education as well as Witertainment
Second, since the members of the
faculty pay as much each year into
the fund, they should be allowed
to vote. It the faculty seleeted
the program, the students probab
ly wouldn't enjoy the program and
vice versa. This plan would at best
sound out opinion as regards the
program and its merits, and it is
st present bcoig given very
thoughtful comuderatUm.
Another plan, according to Mr
Williams, involves the transfer of
management from a student man
ager to some faculty position es
pecially created for the p
of carrying on the affairs of the
Series. If some faculty member
gave faia full time to the problem
of booking entertainers and con
tracting them, also managing the
details of printing programs and
hiring student ushers, the Enter
tainment Series might pay its own
