Palace - Thor., Fit, Sat
For some nteaea unknown by the
writer, the producers ef Bob Burns’
new picture decided to let Bob car
ry the load by his leneeome. The
picture “Arkansas Traveler" ex-
uegfbreases Bob's true ability to a “t"
and leaves ao room for doubt as
to whether it was the supporting
cast that made him in the previous
pictures. It seems that the pro
ducers have waited long enough to
"find" Bob Burns as]£e successor
of the la ted beloved Will Rogers.
The theatre world has long lament
ed the death of Will Rogers and
perhaps for that reason the pro
ducers may have hesitated in push
ing Bob to the front. But you can
tell, as will I, that th< next press
notices on Bob’s next picture have
a decided turn to the similarity of
Will Rogers and Bib Bums
The picture is good wholesome
entertainment for the whole family,
if you have one. If you see it your
self, you will like Bob Burns
much more than in any of his pre
vious pictures.
Asseaibly Hall Tuesday. Wednesday
I Hollywood* newest axiom that
“the story tells the tale at the box-
office” is being extended to those
hitherto haphazard, intentionally
vague movie musical'shows.
Just as vaudeville has all but
vanished from the land. Paramount
executives believe th# type film en
tertainment known as the musical
variety show is doomed to an eclip
se that will be immediate if not
sooner. And out of this conviction
has been born a distinctly new type
of musical film, with George K
Arthur pinoneering the way with
“Cocoanut Grove”, a gay musical
romance revolving around the most
famous night club in the world
The difference that marks the
pictare is what the movie scenarists
cal! a “story-point". Each musical
number not only fits in logically at
its appointed spot, but each one
make* some definite contribution
to the pictaV.*tW only objection*
your reviewer kas are those toward
the “Yacht Club"babies. Their
antics are becoming so bqreaomc
that one actually want to leave the
moment they appear. On the stale,
all should eajoy the picture and the
musk. Both Fred MacMamYjMpl
Harriet Hills id are at their best
The A. A M. Pealtry sad B
Club met last Tuesday sight to dis
cuss plans for the benefit *how to
be pat on to finance the judging
team's trip to Chicago next month
to compete in the national contest
It waa decided to havf the dub
show early in November. After the
buaiaeas meeting, the club was ad
dressed by W. ff. Munerlyn, former
member of the poultry department.
Regular meetiftg time of this dab
has been changed to second and
