The following is a poefo that some great poet of Houston wrote
has sent to the sport writers over the state. It is a poem about a
», or mther hulking hunk of beef, who has been called All-America
b!y Lloyd Gregory, Dick Freesnan, and Andy Anderson of the Houston
papers, the same three men that built and tom down s Rice team. The
fact that Rice is a tom down ball club may be seen from the fact that
the team that was to go to the Rose ft ul and be national champions
has been beater by two teams who have been rated well down the ladder.
The scene la Houston; the time is October 1, 19W. The characters
are the Rice and Oklahoma football teams. The author ia unknown, but,
incidentally them am rumors that he live in Houston. Anyway, he has
s darn clfver story to tell. Here it is: >,
