“Frankenstein,” the man who
made a monster, undoubtedly gives
to the pictures one of its greatest
thrillers. Although the actual mur
der scenes have been cut out, weak
hearts have to be brave to sit
through the picture. The picture is
amazing, fascinating, and well done
with an excellent cast; Colin Clive
as Frankenstein, Mae Clarke, John
Boles, Boris Karloff as the mon
ster, Frederic Kerr, and Edward
Van Sloan. Don’t miss this picture
of you want some real screen
thrills.
For the preview only, and re
turning at some later date, is “Dr.
Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” The new
production of the old story is an
excellent one, and a real thriller.
The direction and cast are perfect.
The best feature of the picture is
the clever change made from man
to monster, before your eyes. You
should enjoy every minute of the
show as unparalleled entertain
ment. Frederic March as Dr. Jekyll
and Mr. Hyde, Miriam Hopkins,
and Rose Hobart lead the cast.
“Lonely Wives,” is a brilliant
comedy that squares the family
circle. It is based on a successful
stage farce by A1 Woods. This
story of modern morals has an ex
cellent cast, led by Edward Ever
ett Horton, and supported by Laura
La Plante, Esther Ralston, and
Patsy Ruth Miller.
“Private Lives” is one of the cle
verest of Montgomery’s pictures.
The story and conversation is fast
and smart, and show Norma Shear
er and Robert Montgomery at their
best.
“Lovers Courageous” is Robert
Montgomery’s latest picture and
the story of a leap year romance,
and a girl who proposed to the
man of her heart. It is as delight
ful as all of Montgomery’s pictur
es, and now he has a new support
cast with Madge Evans and Roland
Young. Featured with the picture
is a short with the Boswell sisters
in a few reels of singing that
should be very enjoyable.
“High Pressure” is William Pow
ell’s first attempt at comedy, and
a successful one too. If you like
the smooth Powell, you’ll enjoy
him in this picture.
Gloria Swanson is again thrust
into movie limelight in her picture
“Indnscreet.” The story is a mirror
of the trials of moderns in seeking
romance. Ben Lyon, Barbara Kent,
and Arthur Lake lead the support
cast.
