C.' THE BATTALION CAMPUS COMMENT—(Continued from page 4) determined purpose to keep our fair city on the highest moral plane possible and when occasional isolated violations are brought to our attention we appreciate the information. As regards the show in question we regret to advise that the city had no jurisdiction in the matter whatever, since it was not located within the corporation limits. The advance agents for the troup applied for a permit to exhibit inside the city limits but such application was denied by the City Manager in accord ance with the policy of the City Commission. It may be stated here, however, that the vulgar act to which you refer did not run the gauntlet undisturbed for the entire week, as it was closed by the Sheriff under orders of the District Judge immediately its character was discovered. For your information we are also pleased to advise that the city of Bryan has had nothin whatever to do with the prohibition of Sunday moving picture shows because under the State Law prohibiting Sunday amusements the matter was placed entirely in the hands of the County officials, and I am sure that you will agree with the writer that our local county officers have not neglected their duty in this regard. In conclusion may we assure you that the city officials of Bryan are most deeply concerned with the moral atmosphere as effecting the welfare not only the students at A & M College and Allen Academy but of all the people, and we sincerely hope that when the occasion again arises to criticize our officials you will make a more exhaustive inquiry into the facts of the matter. Trusting that you will publish this letter in an early issue of your periodical, we are Yours very truly, City of Bryan, By R. G. Williams, City Manager. Following the completion of the Chemistry building, a building for the Agricultural Engineering department will be built. This will remove the wooden structures used by the depart ment at present. As dormitory conditions become bet ter, the shacks are to be removed to other parts of the campus where they will be put into other uses. Care and cultivation of the plants and shrubs that have recently oeen set out by the department of land scape art will produce a striking change in the general appearances of the campus for these evergreens have not matured yet, and will add consid erably to the general appearance when they are full size. Other improvements, which are not on the campus but will affect the stu dents and the college people as well, is the new highway through the coun ty which is to be routed on the east side of the college, about the present location of the Sulphur Springs road. The road north of Bryan has already been graded, and prepared for the concrete surface which is to be poured within the summer, and one road crew has started on the embankments and bridges on the part south of Bryan. Included in this project is the paving of the road from the corner of the Aggieland Pharmacy to the new high way. This will provide two paved roads to Bryan.
