Love Letters Of A Sophomore Wednesday Eve. Listen Sweetheart, I didn’t mean I didn’t want to put your picture up beside one of those other pictures ’cause the other pic ture was so much better looking.’ I didn’t mean that at all. I meant I liked your picture so much I didn’t need any other girl’s picture up there no matter how pretty she was. I was trying to compliment you. Honest. You know I love you honey. I haven’t had a date since I left home. There isn’t a girl here that is as pretty as you. Not one. Come on and be sweet and don’t get mad over a little thing like that. Tha’s a good girl. Smile for poppa. There. That’s the way. Say, do you remember me tellin’ you we was goin’ to get even with our top-kick. We did it alright. We caught four dogs runnin’ around on the cam pus and put ’em in his room. Then we nailed his door shut. Those dogs howled all afternoon while he was in a lab class and when he got back one of the Army Captains was wait in’ for him. Ole captain Snoop it was, somebody doin’ something. The Proff was grading a paper. I don’t believe in givin’ help myself but I helped Fred a little ’cause I wanted to get on the good side of him. He didn’t need much help so I didn’t do much wrong. Me and Jake pulled a hot one last night. There’s a kid here, a Junior too, who is as dumb as any Freshman. I don’t think he ever got away from his mother’s skirts the whole time he was in high school. He won’t use any tooth paste that has pumice in it, and he won’t drink out of any glass somebody else has drunk out of be fore he washes it. That’s the kind of fellow he is.
