yard dashes have placed them as the
fastest humans on earth. On two oc
casions Leland has been clocked at
9.4 in the 100 and Bracey runs it
consistently in 9.6. Red Oliver re
cently beat the famous Tolan to the
finish line. Aggieland boasts three of
the stars in Harlan, conference
champion hurdler and one of the
five fastest hurdlers in the United
States; Floyd, Conference javelin
record holder and fourth best in the
United (States last year; and Bob

S. M. U. has become a serious con
tender in the javelin throw, throwing
Qre shaft some 202 feet in a recent
meet.
Although the Aggies have been de
feated only once this year, the Long
horns are onsidered the outstanding
contenders for the Aggies’ crown,
with the Aggies second, Rice third,
and T. C. U. fourth. However, Coach
Anderson is expected to shift Rufus
Emmons from the dashes to the 440-
yard relay team and the 440-yard
run, although he clipped a tenth of a
second off the 220-yard record and
ran the 100 in 9.8 in the triangle
meet last Friday. Rice and T. C. U.
will take most of the points in the
dashes anyway and extra points in
the 440 and relays may swing the
title back to the Aggies for the sec
ond consecutive time.
James Sullivan, business manager
of athletics, is anxious that the corps
and faculty support this meet as they
have all other athletic events that
have been held in the past. $750.00
must be guaranteed the Conference
and it takes more than $250.00 for
medals and other expenses of run
ning off the meet. That means more
than $1,000.00 that will be needed to
stage the meet. There will be on
charge for the preliminaries Friday,
but Saturday students and faculty
members will be charged 50 cents and
visitors SI.00.
“Sully” has successfully staged
many different championship meets
and everyone can rest assured thaj;
everything will be in perfect shape
to welcome the many track and field
stars and that the meet will probably
be the best that has ever been run
eff in the conference.

year is determined to avenge the de
feat.
The A. and M. team composed of
W. O. Alexander, Gulf, and W. A.
Porter, Terrell, defeated T C. U. in
a debate last week to add another
victory to the constantly growing
string of the year.
