For the first time in seven years
Aggieland will play the role of host
to six members of the Southwestern
Conference who will come to Kyle
Field to participate in what promises
to be the most interesting and rec^
ord breaking Conference Track and
Field Meet that has ever been held
in the South.
Not many sport followers have the
opportunity of seeing just one track
star that has gained national recog
nition, but those that attend the pre
liminaries and finals Friday and
Saturday will have the opportunity
of seeing at least eight track and
field stars that have gained Nation
al recognition.
Heading the list of nationally rec
ognized stars will be Claude Bracey,
the Rice Owl flash; Cy Leland, the
Flying Frog, and Red Oliver, anRh-
er fast moving Frog, whose sensa
tional records in the 100 and 220-

The Y. M. C. A. honored the Sen
ior and Junior classes with the last
of a series of banquets, which have
been given throughout the year, last
Tuesday a:nd Thursday nights.

and introduced the speakers for the
vening. Dr. Walton, E. E. McQuillen,
T ohn Newton, class of 1912, execu
tive of the Magnolia refinery at
Beaumont, and a few members of the
class gave short talks.
H. W. Stanley, assistant manager
of the East Texas Chamber of Com
merce, was the principal speaker for
he junior banquet, with F. S. Bu
ford, president, as toastmaster. Col
lege pi'oblems were discuss;ed by
Colonel C. J. Nelson and Dr. T. O.
Walton.
All Girls’ Team From Denton Here
For Debate. Tomorrow.
A. and M. debating team, compos
ed of W. G. Carnahan, Center, and
G. H. Norman, Kaufman, will meet
the debaters of the College of Indus
trial Arts, Thursday evening at 8
o’clock in the Physics Lecture room,
C. O. Spriggs, coach of the team
has announced.
The question for discussion will be:
Resolved that installment buying is
■detrimental to the economic interests
of the Nation. It is the first time this
year that the A. and M. team has de
bated on this subject. Last year the

Dance to be Staged This Year at
Bryan Country Club.
The Cattlements Ball, annual
dance of the Saddle and Sirloin Club,
Friday night, May 16, has been an
nounced by Ralph Howe, president
of the club. The affair, expected to
be the greatest ever conducted by
the club, will be staged at the Bryan
r ' 1 ■ ]h w^th music by the Ag
gieland.
Anticipating the size of the event,
the president appointed an arrange
ment committee with George Love,
Del Rio, chairman; a decorative com
mittee with Norman Schuessler,
Llano, chairman; a music committee
with Jack Allison, San Angelo, chair
man ; and a floor committee with R.
H. Boethtel, Hallettsville, chairman.
Tentative plans indicate that the
dance will be unusually large and
peppy judging from the amount of
time the committee is spending to
wards making it a success.
Mechanical Man and Talking Pic
tures Presented Saturday.
Featuring a mechanical man who
is guaranteed to outtalk any woman,
the exhibits of the Electrical Engin
eering Department in the Engineer
ing Show Saturday, will comprise a
show of the most modern electrical
appliances and some mystifying spec
tacles.
A complete talking picture appar
atus, with the operation of the pro ■
jection machine with sound equip
ment and the synchronization of the
voice and picture, will be operated
and explained.

Executive Committee Announces
Plans in Readiness for Show

With the various engineering de
partments of the college conducting
individual experiments and displays
in their respective buildings, the
first coordinated Engineering Show
will have its formal opening Satur
day morning, May 10.
Heretofore each department has
presented an annual show of sorts
that was without either centralized
directorship or union of effort, but it
was through the efforts of an exe
cutive committee composed of W. F.
Deane, Kingsville; L. H. Moon,
Troup; M. A. Hartman, Taylor; John
Howard, Dallas; and S. L. Mosley,
Italy, that a coordinated show will
be presented.
