changed and should be read so that
no dispute will arise later.
Basketball practice has been limit
ed this year on account of the large
number of teams and the lack of
sufficient playing space, but the In
tramural department has done the
best possible under the circumstanc
es. Many good games are in store
for intramural followers and stu
dents not playing are urged to help
their teams by encouraging them to
try just a little harder to bring home
the basketball championship.
FISH FOOTBALL
The coaching staff is composed of
very capable men this year. Roswell
Higginbotham is beginning his third
year as head coach. He has been
turning out highly successful teams
for the past three seasons. “Red”
Petty, all-Southwestern conference
end last season is directing the wing
play for the season. Freddie “Brid
get” Weston, diminutive varsity base
ball star and former varsity foot
ball squad man, has been handling
the linesmen. Frank Anderson, var
sity track coach, and “Dutch” Dilling
ham, coach of the scrubs back in 1922
complete the staff of mentors.

timber. Practically the only way to
determine the ability of the boys at
the present time is centered around
the blocking and tackling skirmish
es.
A new system has been inaugurat
ed by the fish coaches this season.
Two squads are being carried by
the mentors. Twenty-seven of the
most promising youngsters are plac
ed on the first squad, while those
not so well versed in the basic fun
damentals of football, but showing
promise, are members of the “Rag
Knots.” Those showing ability on
the “Rag Knot” team are sent on
up to the “varsity”, while the first
string players slowing down, are de
moted.
There is weight to spare in the
line material. Big, fast men are
showing up well. There is a wealth
of backfield material, in fact so
much that the coaches are beginning
to get worried as to how to dispose
of about half of them.
AGGIES LOSE
(Continued from Page 11)
Overton showed up well too, but were
not in the game as well as the
other boys. Tulane soon found that
there was no gain through the Ma
roon line and began using the fam
ous four-man interference around
end.
The Aggies that made the trip
were royally treated by the New
Orleans’ Aggies and nothing but
praise can be said for them. They
were at the train with cars, to take
the cadets to any part of the city,
and later conducted sight-seeing
tours to the many interesting parts
of the Crescent City.
The New Orleans newspapers en
tertained the visiting scribes from
the time the train arrived until it
departed. Only the score was wrong,
but such a game as it was made
the trip well worthwhile. Every man
making the trip wished many times
for the whole Corps. Dallas next
stop.
