improve the aesthetic aspects of the
campus. Houston street now boasts
of two rows or lights, while the
light posts throughout the campus
have been repainted. A sunken gar
den to replace Law and Puryear
lakes will add greatly to the looks
of those dormitories and will lend
a back-to-nature atmosphere to its
surroundings. A steel-framed armory
will soon be built, to be used while
the old one is torn down to open
space for a new one. The location
has not as yet been selected since
appropriations have not been made.
This year will see many worthy im
provements being carried into ef
fect by the zealous and constant ef
forts of the authorities in charge.

man since 1911, having seen service
in both the cavalry and field ar
tillery units. He became a commis
sioned officer in the Phillippine
Scouts. He is a graduate of the field
artillery school, battery officers
course at Ft. Sill. He is transferred
from Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and
relieves Lt. Powell.
Lt. Paul Neal was attending A.
and M. at the outbreak of the World
War. He obtained his commission
at training camp after leaving the
institution. His home is in Texas
and he comes from the signal school
at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. He
was formerly stationed here, and
later was relieved by Lt. Michelson,
reporting for duty in Panama. The
situation is reversed; he now replaces
Lt. Michelson.
Lt. Leonard R. Nachmen will re
lieve Capt. Aldridge, reporting for
duty from the infantry school at Ft.
Benning, Georgia. A native of Louis
iana, he graduated from West Point
in 1918.
NEW UNIFORM REFUND
PLAN ADOPTED
According to a change made in reg
ulations for the ensuing year mer
chandise in uniform equipment pur
chased from any reputable dealer
will be accredited to students’ ac
counts and the government refund
allowed on it. Heretofore the equip
ment had to be bought from the Ex
change Store. In the future the plan
to be adopted will be different.
In harmony with this plan each
dealer should provide himself with
a sufficient supply of the slips con
taining the city or town, date, name
of purchaser and address, name of
dealer and address, and a space for
purchased merchandise to be enum
erated by article. Students should

ask for these slips to be filled out
when buying equipment. They should
then be turned in to the fiscal de
partment of the college before June
1st. And the individual account con
taining the entire student’s pur

he shall be remunerated.
(Editor’s note): It seems that in
this, something has been accomplish
ed which we have been in need of
for quite a while. Not only was it
a cause of much comment and criti
cism on the part of the student body,
but also, from our standpoint, quite
unfair. The fact that the Exchange
Store in the past has been the only
dealer authorized to handle this sit
uation has met with wide disap
proval, and has failed completely to
take care of the condition for the
simple reason that many students,
especially upperclassmen, do not care
to make their entire purchases from
the Exchange Store. In the future
we believe the plan will be much
more satisfactory.
