Even if they do win these four games, the Farmers may be so battered that they will limp in be hind another team but the fact that we have our greatest rivals on our own lot balances this somewhat. S. M. U. has to meet D. X. Bible’s Corn- huskers and that is two assignments in itself. * * * The Athletic Department wishes to announce that tickets for the gen eral public for the Texas and S. M. U. games will be placed on sale November 1 and until that date it will be useless to try to purchase them. However tickets are being mailed to the ex-students in good standing. By a new rule passed at the recent meeting each ex-student may purchase only two tickets in the ex-students section with an addi tional ticket for graduates of ten years, and two tickets for those that entered the college 15 years ago. At present 2000 tickets for the Texas game and 1600 for the S. M. U. game have been mailed out. The benefits derived from intra mural sports are immeasurable. It is safe to say that wise participa tion in intramural sports has bene ficial effect upon scholarship as well as physical development of the in dividual. This improvement comes di rectly from a healthful recreation which builds up one’s energy rather than dissipates it. The intramural athletics have for their objectives, recreation, group spirit, social bene fits, better health development of interest in sports, bodily prowess, and scholarship. 15 Sports Offered. The department offers in her pro gram a wide field of different sports and in the coming year it is the policy to make these sports more in teresting and to try to get every student to participate in the pro- FISH FOOTBALL (Continued from Page 8) keep about 100 men in uniform. As these men show lack of Varsity ability other men will be given their uniforms and this process continued untif all the men have had a chance to show their grid ability. Many real stars will be overlooked and many 1 inferior men will have their positions, but with this large number of can didates it is impossible for any coach to do better. If these men that are disappointed really love the game and believe that they are of Varsity calibre, intramural football is still o-pen to them to demonstrate their wares. And if they have anything that the Varsity can use, an invi tation for spring training will be issued. It will be noted that Captain Tom Mills of the ’29 Aggies came up from the intramural ranks. Coach Roswell Higginbotham, who will begin his third year as fresh man mentor, will be assisted by Coach Frank Anderson, track and cross-country, Coach “Red” Petty, former star Aggie wingman. Work will begin about September 23 when it is expected that the fish will be through with the trials of registration and settled in their sur roundings. INTRAMURALS (Continued from Page 8) not find one in the fifteen offered then additional ones will be “put on the market.” Intramural sports come closest to the idea of athletic sports—the ideal of “sports for sports sake.” Some times we all feel that too much em phasis upon the part of the student to take part for what they can get out of it, rather than for the fun and recreation that comes to them. A program that is designed to stim ulate the interest of students with every degree of ability—whether he have gross lack of co-ordination or be very proficient—-is a valuable program. And that is the aim of in tramurals—“sports for all and all for sports.” (Continued on Page 12) QW a Flying Start in the Mew School Term Choose a Parker Duofotd —the college favorite by actual census * guaranteed Forever Against All Defects Here's TFinfield Kill am.
