INTRAMURALS^
With practically all competition
ending in the near future, the Intra
mural department is about to close
one of the most successful seasons
ever enjoyed. The track meet has
been announced for Saturday, May
18th., at 3 p. m. The events included
in this meet will be as follows: 100-
yard dash, 220-yard dash. 440-yard
dash, 880-yard run, mile run, 120-
yard high hurdles, 220-yard low hur
dles, high jump, pole vault, discus,
shot put, broad jump and javelin
throw. In the field events the men
may take their three trials at any
time during the afternoon, but in the
pole vault and high jump the con
testants must keep up with the rise
of the bar. This will allow the men
to enter both field and track events.
All men are requested to meet in
the north stands of Kyle Field at
2:40 p. m. so that they may be given
instructions regarding the procedure
of the meet. Each organization will
be given 50 points if they have men
entered in half the events, but the
men must participate to get these
points. The winner of each event will
be given the official Intramural med
al.
Swimming
The annual intramural splash will
be held in the Y pool the following
Saturday week, May 25th. Events

in this meet are as follows: 40-yard
free style, 40-yard breast stroks, 100-
yard free style, plunge for distance,
and fancy diving. As in track, 50
points will be awarded each organi
zation for entering men in half of
the events and the winner of each
event will also be given the official
Intramural medal. No members of
the Swimming Club will be allowed
to compete in this meet, so all you
near-goods start getting wet and
enter this meet.
The handball courts have finally
been cleared and the finals of the
meet may be run off. Teams in the
finals are requested to start practic
ing as the tournament will be re
sumed Monday. The singles and dou
bles tournament will be started im
mediately and the best players of
each organization should begin prac
ticing so as to enter this tournament
for the champion of the college.
The Tennis tournament has been
traging along for some time and all
the men entered are requested to go
to the Y and see who you are match
ed to play and make arrangements
to play this immediately. If this is
not done, your match will be for
feited and the play resumed.
The same goes for golf too. The
tournaments must be finished (the
next fifteen days and the intramural
department is anxious to get these
contests closed.

ENGINEERS SEE THINGS
AND MEET PEOPLE
On the Wednesday before R. V.
holidays the junior students in E. E.
visited Houston on an inspection
trip. They were shown through the
Deep Wat'r Station, one of the
Houston power plants; the Texas
Portland Cement Co., and the • Texas
warehouse of the Carnegie Steel Co.
They were also taken out into the
turning basin and witnessed a fire
boat in action. The seniors left Mon
day night for Dallas where they at
tended the A. I. E. E. Convention for
the southwest.
The C. E. juniors and seniors left
for Waco the Monday after R. V. to
visit on an inspection trip the Atlas
Portland Cement Co., a §5,000,000
plant under construction, and the
Bosque Dam, and the Central Texas
Auto Works. They were given a
banquet by the Waco A. & M. Club.
The seniors went to Dallas Wednes
day to the state A. I. E. E. Conven
tion.
The Ch. E. juniors and seniors left
the Monday before R. V. for Corsi
cana on an inspection trip, where
they visited the Magnolia Refinery.
Tuesday and Wednesday they spent
in Dallas, going 'through the city
water works, Proctor and Gamble
Co., Planter’s Cotton Oil, Brown
Cracker and Candy Co., and the Lone
Star Portland Cement Co.
The textile engineers left the Mon
day before R. V. for Houston, visit
ing the Or'ental Mills, the Jute Mills,
and several others. From Houston
they w r ent to Santone and New'
Braunfels, going through various
mills and the famous power plant
located at New Braunfels.
