U. 51 For the second time this year, the boys beat the Steers, and made them like it. As was expected, the Aggies scored most heavily in the track events, chalking up 55 points; while they were shaded in the field, 25-29. The track was very fast, and good time was made in all the events. Dick Winders won the two mile race, but old “Warhoss” Shoe maker ran a good race, and gained the respect of Levi, who tried to pass him on the last turn. Micheal showed plenty of fight in both his races, and he is expected to place well in the conference meet. For the second time this season, both Hodges and Tracy beat the mighty Daniels in the Quar ter-mile. In the field, Floyd won the Javelin with ease; Farmer won the broad jump with a leap of 22 ft., 9*4 inches; “Red” Ashley showed indica tions of reaching his old form in the pole vault, while Stiteler continues to hit around 12 feet all the time. Aided by a nice breeze and a good start, Wilkey of Texas tied the conference record in the 220, even though he pulled a muscle in doing it. Dan O’ Neil was ten yards behind at the hundred yard mark, but closed the gap to mere inches by the time they reached the finish. With their well-rounded team, the Aggies are slight favorites to win the championship, but it is anybody’s race until all returns are in. AGGIES-S. M. U. SPLIT PAIR o (Continued from Page 8) shut out victories to two for the sea son. Harris caught this game and was invincible in both the offense and the defense. He secured a dou ble and single in four trips to the plate and was a star on the defense. Harris seems to have found himself now and should be able to fill the Captains place at any time. Rice Wins First Game in Two Years From Aggies Gene Bailey’s Rice Owls have something to flutter tl^eir feather about now, they took one game from Bob Countryman’s slugging^ outfit, the first in two year. Keith and Mills tide up in an old time pitching duel aud the Owl hurler emerged victori ous, when Tom had a bad inning in the seventh and allowed one run to cross the plate. Both pitchers were vry stingy with their bingles, giv ing three apiece. Bell socked the pill for three bases and continued his hitting spree. Harris connected with one of Keith’s offerings for ai single and Pampell took the third one. While Abies was giving the Ag gies 13 hits which netted ten runs, Pete Wends was right again and al lowed the Owls only five scattered hits and one run. Brooks Conover went wild and got two doubles and two singles in five trips to the plate and Pampell con nected with two doubles in four times at the plate. Bell used his stick to get two doubles atid a triple in five times up. The Aggies’ bats were used plentq in this game. jf ***************-****>**>** | BRYAN NURSERY AND ! | FLORAL CO. | ★ TELEPHONE 266 1 R J * ¥ I F. H.
