Tradition often marks us as back-sliders, as ne’er-do- wells who are content to go along just as our predecessors and accomplish ing little, if any, more than they. The world moves and if we are to keep up with the fast moving pro cession we must stay within hearing distance of the band. We are diamonds in the rough, and if we are to obtain full value for ourselves, the stone must be cut and polished. But how, that is the question. Following are a few suggestions that I offer. Let us change, first of' all, our school song to Your’s in the Jailhouse Now.” Then remember that titles distinguish the mediocre, embarrass the superior, and disgrace the inferior. Have you seen very many embarrassed ? Then let us put a petition before the board of directors asking permission to have more compulsory formations and more and longer drill periods. Then let us all sign a petition saying that there will be absolutely no hazing tolerated. Then rule it that every one will necessarily have to wear boots to go to school here. Silver taps is pretty so lets kill off a few of the undesirables. Then last but not least, lets get some women soldiers, in or der that the rules may become more stringent. We do not have nearly enough rules; we are allowed to leave the campus too often. 1 1 PALACE Thursday .
