THE BATTALION
Distinguished by a favor that places it first
It is a natural pride that Camel feels for
its triumphs. Not only did it lead the
field shortly after its introduction. It
passed steadily on with each succeeding
year until today it holds a place in pub
lic favor higher than any other smoke
ever reached. Camel is supreme with
modern smokers.
Obviously, there is a quality here
that particular smokers appreciate. It

is indeed the myriad qualities of per
fection that are to be found in the
choicest tobaccos grown. And the art of
Nature is aided by a blending that un
folds each delicate taste and fragrance.
You will more than like Camels.
You will find a solace in them every
smoking hour. Their mildness and
mellowness are an endless pleasure.

wiil be no chance for any one to break
in the rooms with a coat-hanger or
bayonet. On the base-hoard is a rubber
stop to keep the door from hitting the
wall. The picture molding, base
board, and other woodwork are stained
and vaimished in light brown, as are
the hardwood floors. Each room con
tains two windows, except the corner
ones with their four, and at the side
of each window is a wall socket for
the desk lamps; there is no ceiling
socket. The radiators are of a small
and neat design. The large man-size
closets will afford enough room for
the trunks, clothes, and the other un
sightly ornaments of a room.
The lavoratories, which are sepa
rate steam-heated rooms, are the best
of any college hall in the state. The
shower is partitioned off, and has
walls of plaster in tile effect. The
shower is controlled by an adjusting-
valve, which will give hot water in one
direction and cold in the other. Over
the two basins, which are equipped
with both hot and cold water faucets,
are five small tile shelves for the
toilet articles. Each four rooms has
a private lavoratory.
TEXAS NEWS IN BRIEF
From the feature page of the Hous
ton “Boast”:
Young Mr. Dreyxl Turner of this
city has had a very novel experience
at the A. & M. College. Despite the
engaging oddity of his features he
has found an exact double in the cadet
corp of his Alma Mater. It is said
that such a striking similarity exists
between Mr. Turner and Mr. H. L.
Phillips, of Dallas, that their instruct
ors have difficulty in distinguishing
them. In fact their features and ac
tions are so nearly alike that they can
only be identified by the insignia of
their organizations.
o
Clipping from the Dallas “Noose”:
An astonishing coincidence has been
discovered in the Mechanical En
gineering Department of the A. & M.
College of Texas. Master Harter L.
Phillips, promising college boy from
Oak Cliff High, has found his double
in class with him. D. Turner, Hous
ton boy, is his lucky twin. College
authorities state that when the two
boys came to A. & M. there was no
similarity in them, however, the close
association of membership in the col
lege bathing team and the wagon-
soldiers of the cadet corps has made
them the gold dust twins of the cam
pus.
Suicide Club Discovered in Louisiana
City
Grand Cane, La.—Civic authorities
of Grand Cane were horrified yester
day to unearth a suicide pact which
involves nearly every young woman
in this village. When one of the
members of the organization was
questioned she stated that the cause
of wholesale despondence among
Grand Cane girls is that Joe K. Sto
rey, staff captain at the Texas A. &
M., went back to college after Christ
mas without kissing them goodbye. A
shotgun squad is being recruited to
bring Storey back to Grand Cane to
relieve the situation.
Taylor Lad Joins Ranks of the Fallen
College Station, Tex.—An honorary
degree in the Knights of the Greasy
Saddle, a branch of the local Prince
of Wales Club, has been conferred on
Antonio Torn for his display of in
genuity in getting himself thrown
from the same horse twice in fifteen
minutes. Mr. Torn’s spread-eagle
take off from a horse is said to be the
most graceful ever displayed before
the cavalry riding classes at A. & M.
The above is the second honorary
degree given to Torn in the past few
months, the other being a degree in
the Order of the Bottomless Pocket
conferred on him for his noble work
ir, connection with the Thanksgiving
Hop.
An attempt to imitate Nero at the
burning of Rome seems to have been
made last week in Amarillo. During
a performance at the Fair Theatre, a
blaze broke out in the ceiling of a
beauty parlor beneath the balcony,
but was not at first seen by the audi
ence. Rody Jordan, blackface comed
ian, was on the stage at the time and
was the first to see the fire, but to
prevent a panic, continued with his
wisecracks. Instead of the historical
fiddle, Rody played on a saxophone
until smoke drove him from the stage.
The theatre was emptied of its 1000
occupants in an orderly manner.
