Perhaps you are wondering who
could be writing to you from this
point of the world, but it is just one
of these scattered “Texas Aggies,”
who still have that old “Farmers’
Fight Spirit.”
I have been in an argument with a
boy here who claims that some times
in 17’, 18’, or ’19 that the “Texas Ag
gies” were defeated by the Tennes
see Doctors by a score of over 100 to
0 in football. I can’t feature Texas
A. & M. first team being beat by
any score like that, and certainly I’ve
never heard of it.
Would it be asking too much of
you to let me know what was the
greatest defeat A. & M. has suffered
from any other college, and also the
greatest victory we have ever made
over a first-class college or univer
sity. Perhaps Mr. Sullivan would be
glad to send me this information, as
you will be quite busy getting the
boys in trim to run off with another
“Southwestern Conference” record. I
know we won the “Conference” in ’17,
’19, ’21, and ’25, but when we lost
the Conference in other years, I do
not remember that we ever suffered
any such defeat as has been claimed
by this boy.
There are three “Old Texas Ag
gies” here in Venezuela with the Gulf
Oil Co., and we certainly are watch
ing the A. & M. team this year. They
are D. M. Carmichael, R. A. Rosbo-
rough, and myself. We are wishing
the Texas Aggies the best of our
good wishes in this coming year and
know if it is possible for us to win
the Conference we can depend on
you, “Our Coach,” as well as “Our
Boys,” to do their share.
Tell the team that there are three
“Texas Aggies” in Venezuela watch
ing them this year and tell them
we are Texas Aggies 100%.
I have just sent in my yearly pledge
to the “Endowment Plan” and ask the
secretary to see that my Texas Aggie
reaches me more often, as I’ve only
received two copies in nearly a year
down here, and want to keep up with
the old school at all times. They
should be started about the time you
receive this letter, and if it is not
asking too much of you, please give
the editor my regards and tell him to
put me on the list for a “Bat” this
year. I do not know how mmuch it
will cost me in a foreign country, but
if he will start sending them and not
ify me the amount I owe him, I will
send a check by return mail. I am
asking a lot of favors, “Coach,” but
as all Texas Aggies “swear by their
Bible,” I feel free to ask this of you,
as I know if we were not defeated by
any such score as has been claimed,
you would want to put the matter
right before every one, and if we have
been defeated to that extent, we are
sports enough to say so, and also
say we “went down fighting,” just
the same.
A 100% Texas Aggie”
