the building needs of the College.
Every member present expressed
himself as in deep sympathy with the
Institution and willing to use his in
fluence to the utmost in an endeavor
to provide better facilities at the Col
lege for training men. While these
men recognize the difficulties with
which the State is confronted because
of a shortage of funds, they indicated
their sympathy for the Institution and
their desire to be helpful to it.
Their visit will undoubtedly be of
value as they can speak with assur
ance and with a personal knowledge
concerning the College and its prob
lems when its interests are being con
sidered by the bodies of which they
are members. The students’ reactions
made a very favorable impression up
on the visitors and all in all their visit
will be very beneficial to the school.
A reception on the presidents lawn,
honoring Governor Moody and the
committeemen until train time marked
the close of their visit.

FISH TRACK TEAM GIVEN
TRIP TO HOUSTON
As a reward for their faithful work
all during the track season, seventeen
members of the freshman traok squad
\yere given a trip to Houston to see
the, Southwestern Conference track
meet. There they saw one of the great-
esf collections of track stars ever en
tered in a conference meet. In addi
tion to the southwestern stars, they
had a chance to see a runner of in
ternational fame, who broke the
drbrld’s record in an exhibition run
during the meet. This trip was of
g-teat value to the Aggie freshmen as
they were enabled to see the styles
of the best men in each event.
WASTE BASKET STUFF. *
Under a virgin cedar tree the col
lege newstand stood:
With wares displayed both risque and
staid,
To charm one’s every mood.
A bottle of drink a flare of pink and
, a form of grace divine,
Leads students thoughts from Ag to
art and with a deep
Drawn sigh he sadly parts with his
last and only dime.
The daily sheet with headlines neat,
of scandal recently discovered,
Of a riot or a roaring flood, twenty-
eight skeletons uncovered.

REED & POWERS
Confectionery and Drug*
The daily news, helps banish the blues,
or words to that effect,
Not so with the stude who sadly
learned that his words were vain,
His love was spurned, his gal had
married by heck.
Some news is good, some is bad and
some is not so worse,
People are the same, there’s nothing
in a name,
Could you properly call this verse ?
So I’ve scattered around some silli
ness profund and now an apology
is expected.
And by the way, be it as it may, my
purpose is now effected.
The editor requested with tears in his
voice, for filler for unfilled space,
I grabbed my pen with a derisive grin
and caught three men off the
base.
RULE DAWSON ELIGIBLE
FOR PONY ELEVEN
Mustang football stock for next
year took a rise Saturday upon re
ceipt here of news froVn Houston,
declaring Stanley Dawson, all-Con-
ference end and captain q£ the South
western Conference champions, eligi
ble for another year of play.
Dawson was ruled ineligible at the
close of the conference. S. M- U. of
ficials appealed the decision at the
annual meeting of the conference held
at Houston Saturday morning. The
conference officials voted that the
calendar year should apply three years
from the date of first participation.
Dawson had played three years of
basketball, but had played only two
years of football. He was unanimous
ly selected as all-conference end at
the close of the last football season.
Before coming to S. M. U. he was all-
State high school end on the El Paso
High School Team.
The eligibility of Dawson will solve
one of the major problems confront
ing Coach Ray Morrison for next
year’s team. With Dawson and Alex
Hooks he will have two of the best
wing men in the conference. They
both will fit into the type of play next
year that will result from the new
“lateral pass” rule.

Glorifying the Nation’s Press
"T Tnder the careful scrutiny of the
U Fkie Arts Commission, the Board
of Engineers, the Building Inspector,
various civic organizations, the District
Commissioners and Congress itself—
the National Press Building is now
being built in "Washington, D.C.,as a
monument to the Press, and to serve as
headquarters for the National Press and
as an office building.
Congress set aside the height limi
tation of zoning laws by special act,
so that the building could be of maxi
mumusefulness and still conform with
the symmetry of the adjacent sky line.
The financing of this undertaking
has been very impressive—$6,000,000
worth of bonds were oversubscribed
300% by a mighty response from
every section of the country.
The elevator installation consists of seven (7) Otis Gearless Traction Elevators with
Unit Multi-Voltage Control and Car Switch operation at 450 feet per minute, six
(6) of these elevators being tised exclusively for passenger service and one (J) as a
service elevator. There is also a small dressing room elevator and a sidewalk elevator
